Forget about fighting Floyd. Margarito needs to fight the best fighters out there for his career. He should not make decisions based on whether they will help him make a fight with Floyd. If Floyd just doesn't want to fight the man, he won't. Margarito has no power at all to change that. For you to basically say he shouldn't fight Williams because Floyd already trashed The Punisher is a joke. If you don't want to see this fight, you are just a fan of the Margarito hype and fear that he'll lose. You do not want to see this man tested if you have a problem with this fight...
Floyd is regarded as the premiere fighter at Margarito's weight, OF COURSE he's going to try and make that fight. That's his goal. If fighting Williams does nothing for that (as Floyd just said), then why take that risk if there's another fighter who gets him closer to that goal, like a highly ranked WBC welter? Sure, I'd like to see Williams-Margarito, I'm simply looking at it from Tony's perspective.

Delahoya, Mosley, hatton, Winky, even cotto are more worhty. Come on dude, be honest with yourself.
LOL You're right, except not one of those fighters are WELTERS!

LOL Hatton's moving back to 140 because he was clearly at the wrong weight at 147. Cotto's at 140, Winky's at 160, DLH and Mosely are at 154. Margarito, however, is sitting right there at 147, with a world title.

And most importantly, none of those fighters have an $8M contract sitting there waiting to be signed by Floyd, either.

I can understand that, if he fought Williams, he still would have to fight a proven champ to get Floyd. But Margo acts as if 1 man holds the key to his career. Wiiliams is his mandatory and he unwilling to fight Rivera or winky, so for Dec fight your mandatory. Floyd aint going nowhere, he aint retiring no time soon. Once floyd wins the belts from Baldomir, and if margo beats Williams, most likely Margo will be floyd's mandatory. Bottom line, dude need to fight somebody!!

Gotta love how this thread went from Margarito fighting Williams to the haters crying about Mayweahter.

Give it a rest. Margarito isn't fighting Floyd anytime soon, and he (as well as his nut hugging fans) should be concentrating on who he should be fighting next.

Hopefully it's a name that will surpass Cintron which is currently his biggest career win to date.

KO Zab, yeah right, he might not even beat Suarez. All u got to do against cintron is get in his face to the point he cant extend his arms, and he is through.

And isnt close to the caliber of Corrales, Castillo or Hernandez.
