Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce: Talks Going Well For Usyk Clash in April, I Can Stop Him!

Heavyweight contender Joe Joyce has revealed that the negotiations for a showdown with amateur rival Oleksandr Usyk are going very well. Usyk, the mandatory challenger to the WBO title, is considering the scenario of fighting Joyce, who holds the number two position in the WBO's rankings. Their contest would involve the WBO's interim-title.

I would agree if Usyk had bad stamina but hes a machine. He is also a bit too quick for joyce. Plus he has beat him before.
      Interesting fight though.

The machine looked like he was flagging a bit against Chisora to me, fortunately for him he had a gassed opponent for 9 rounds who couldn't take advantage himself.

So Usyk's management is negotiating a fight to make him WBO mandatory, when he's already the WBO mandatory? Sounds logical . . . .

The man is 34 years old, and already showing signs of slowing down, he's not some up and comer, he's on the tail end of his prime at best, he needs to start putting money in the bank right now.

Fury and AJ might not happen until the second half of the years say Usyk gets his shot in 2021, at 35, then what if he gets injured or something goes wrong?

            No, he needs paydays NOW

Makes sense, why sit about and wait for the winner of AJ/Fury or why even force the issue to try and get the AJ fight now as they will just walk away to fight each other.

He will prob get some step aside money + his purse for the Joyce fight with a guaranteed shot at the belt after AJ/Fury one

I would be very surprised if Usuck takes that fight. The only chance Usuck has is to run for his life and Hearn buy the judges.

Usyk has much to lose here. Ok he won in the am but Joyce is bigger and stronger. Slower possibly but in 12 rounds he'll have lots of chances.
