Best Beatdowns from one top 10 fighter to another from 2000-2009?

A top 10 guy of the division, giving another top 10 guy of the division a beating. Regardless if you thought they weren't top 10 or not. This list is not exhaustive, or in order.

    1. Mosley vs Margarito
    2. Mayweather vs Corrales
    3. Calzaghe vs Lacy
    4. Hopkins vs Trinidad
    5. Mayweather vs Gatti
    6. Pacquiao vs Diaz
    7. V. Klitschko vs Arreola
    8. Barrera vs Hamed
    9. Lewis vs Tyson
    10. Margarito vs Cotto I

I would have to say btw, the biggest 12 round UD beating between top 10 guys of 2000-2009 had to be Calzaghe vs Lacy.

Vargas-Trinidad. Huge Vargas fan forever here, but that fight will reduce his lifespan. It was brutal. One of my most memorable fights, along with Jirov-Toney.

    Low blows and all.

Worst beatdown from that list I'd have Lewis Tyson. Calzaghe v Lacy was an enjoyable fight, if one sided. Lewis v Tyson was actually painful to watch. Tyson was only in the fight for about 2 minutes.

Barrera did not give Hamed a "beatdown". Two judges had it 115-112. Hamed already was thinking of retirement for 2-3 years because he wa svery wealthy, had very brittle hands which were ALWAYS damaged or broken. Manny Stewart, going to help his training for the last 2 weeks, said that he was very worried about it, because Hamed was not even trying to train(words to that effect). He was lazing around in Bing Crosby's old house where the Kennedy's used to chase naked women arounf the pool. All verified and true.

          Also the Mayweather -Corraless so-called "fight" was a disgraceful show of "gamesmanship" frpm long before it took place. Corrales was out of his mind, his family broken up, over his head in debt, going to jail for 2 years immediately after the "fight. On the morning of the weigh-in was still 10 lbs over, spent no time training, all his time in the sweatbox even the morning of the wrigh-in, which he failed twice. T.K. Stewart, the well known boxing writer and historian wrote both in this site, and to me personally, that;

"as soon as I saw him, skn grey, bones sticking out all over, being helped to the scales leaning on a friend's arm, I knew he had no chance....."

All the facts above can be amply verified. His trainer said he couldn't get him to train, when he wasn't in the sweat box he was in his hotel room playing with a gameboy. Larry Merchant, at ringside said. I was just going past Corrales dressing-room and there he was perched up on the table, scoffing down a huge hamburger...."" Corrales gave a TV interview that lasted about 15 mins, and when asked why he'd taken the (130 lb) fight when he'd had so much trouble making weight for the past few years, that he'd gone up to lightweight since the year before. He said..."they made me an offer I just couldn't refuse" he was penniless then.

It was the most disgusting and contemptible plot in boxing for the last 50 years.

Thank you excellent post. On top of that Chico was dealing with his pops in the corner, he had no chance in hell.

Thread did not ask which fighters you thought were not suitable to fight. Thread asks, in plain English, worst beatdowns from one top 10 fighter to another from 2000-2009.

English is not my first language, and i’m sure many of you only speak English. So I expect you to comprehend the language better than I.

Corrales was The Ring’s #1 ranked 130 pound fighter and ranked #5 by The Ring P4P list when this fight took place. Odds were also even. Nice revisionist history. Hindsight bias. But gtfo of the thread with your offtopic BS.

Trinidad vs Joppy is one of my favorite beatdowns from that period.
