The Dustin fight was 50/50ish to bettors, but Conor was a -350 favorite iirc. Believe Conor was a better dog than Manny was vs Floyd in his pro debut boxing which is exhibit A in how overrated Conor was.

I'm not arguing his legacy is trash. I'm arguing people expected his reign to not end so soon & don't have a rational take on where he's at skill-wise, career-wise right now.

It's not uncommon in any combat sport. Happens all the time in boxing too. People thought Mike Tyson was bad ass at the level he was bad ass for much longer than he was actually bad ass for an easy example of this in boxing.
I agree 100% but I'm talking right now in 2021, both tends to be underrated.

Following your exemple, Mike Tyson right now is kinda underrated. Most people relate to the Mike (washed up) losing to Lewis, they have Tyson losing every fantasy match ups.

Prime Mike was an utter beast, he just beat up very easely guys like Spinks and Holmes. Won the title at 19 wich is a record, dude was a hell of boxer under Rooney. You know the story.

Same for McGregor, people relate to his recent losses.
Back in time he stopped Aldo P4P best in one minute. It's almost like stopping Canelo in the early rounds in boxing right now...

McGregor is the first multiple weightclasses champion in the UFC. That's how good he was in his prime. I don't think at this point most casuals have it in mind.

Again Conor was a -350 favorite in a 50/50 fight a few weeks ago. To me that proves he's overrated. This ain't a 3 year ago thing. This IS a 2021 thing.

And I'd argue Tyson is overrated as well considering he did one of his best PPV's, buy rate-wise, as a 50 something year old. No one should wanna see a 50 year old Mike more than a 20 or 30 something year old Mike. Granted RJJ made this a bigger selling PPV too, but still no 50 year old guys fighting should be selling THAT many PPV's which again says to me too many think too highly of old Mike & old Roy to have purchased this PPV.

But that's a whole other topic. The main issue is Conor & betting odds suggest more fans think Conor is still Conor.
