Would Floyd be the GOAT if he beat GGG in 2014?

If Floyd moved up to 160 and beat prime GGG in 2014 to win a belt in his 7th weight class, would he surpass Ali as the GOAT in your eyes? I feel like we missed out on a career defining fight for Floyd that would cement his legacy.

No he didnt he agreed to all conditions, it was Manny who said no .

Floyd had to confront him man to man to get the fight, what did Manny actively do to make the fight happen ?

To be the G.O.A.T you have to take many more risks of losing than he ever did or was willing to. In other words greatest of all time status would put him in league with Ali, he is nowhere near that.

I was having a conversation about this and Roy Jones's win over Virgil Hill at the time and in the manner he did it is probably a better win than Floyd has on his resume.

He is literally always the favorite to win by design.

Honestly that is the type of fight/win/performance that makes you 'great' imo. Can't blame Floyd for not making it though. He had a great career anyway, and while he chose money over risk in his Money May days, who can really fault him? Boxing is not a game, it's a brutal business. Gotta look out for number 1.

But yes if he went to 160 and just went 12 rounds with GGG in a competitive fight, that is the type of fight guys have where they become 'legends'. Mikey Garcia, to his credit, tried it with Spence. Mikey just isn't very good.

Or if Floyd fought Manny 10 years before they fought, or whenever we really wanted to see it. If he went to the Phillipines and fought him then and KOed him, that is the type of performance that makes one TBE.

Easier said than done? Of course. But we are talking about TBE here, not just being a good or great fighter.

He should have waited until Canelo turned middleweight into 155. Then he could have boiled him down and won the middleweight title at 150....then defended it against Pac at 146.
To be real though...the only person who could have legit beat him would have been Calzaghe. Too fast and too high of a workrate. Mayweather was a master at breaking rhythm. Nobody broke Joes rhythm.

Not all of them Ive never thought he was the best of all time, nobody has that role there were 50 or so fighters across history that are in that class Floyd was one them, GOAT is fan based myth.
