You can make up all the excuses as to why that happened but it happens too consistently to be coincidental. Canelo likes to compromise his opponents and gain an advantage. Short notice is just one of the many things he’s done. Catch weights, rehydration clauses and using banned substances are 3 more examples of how he’s tried to gain an unfair advantage.
At this point people have run out of things to complain about so they're just inventing narratives. Few fights are lined up 6 months in advance or whatever. Canelo had wanted to fight Kovalev instead of Yarde, so If Kovalev had a problem with DAZN's schedule, he could have pulled out and hoped to land the fight afterward. According to Matchroom, GB had come to an agreement with Andrade as a backup option in case the fight with Kovalev didn't go down. From Canelo's end, that situation wasn't ideal either because it remained uncertain of which fighter he'd end up facing-- two with completely different styles in completely different weight classes.

And again, you somehow continue to insist that Feb to May is too quick of a turnaround for Plant coming off a fight he won with ease when Canelo is fighting on that schedule as we speak. Meanwhile the Yildirim fight has been on tap since before Canelo-Smith went down but somehow it's short notice for him when Canelo is the one coming off of going 12 rounds? Ridiculous stuff. He's on pace to fight 3 times in 6 months and probably a 4th by Sept if everything works out for him while these other guys are reaching for excuses and complaints with Canelo and don't seem too eager to face each other either.

    • I enjoy the canelo haters they only help him not hurt him yet they don’t even realize that lol

Bjs will give it his all im sure and against most it will be enough but not against canelo.

Bjs gets beat up and stopped late in the fight.

My ignorance on this subject is impressive. Thanks for the information.

I’m not going through this nonsense with another canelo groupie. Read the previous exchange I had with the other obsessive canelo fan on this same thread and you’ll see quotes from 4 different boxers saying canelo either gave them or offered them a fight on short notice. It’s a known A side tactic trick and canelo uses it. This can’t even be up for debate. It’s a known fact. Canelo does whatever he can to gain an advantage. He’s had more fights with catch weights and rehydration clauses clauses than anyone else. He gives short notice and has been popped for banned substances. Giving himself an unfair advantage is just what he does.

Since 2002, Travellers have been recognised as an ethnic group and are protected under the Race Relations Act.

Now if he’s roma gypsies then he’s not a Irish traveler and indeed he is part of the dark skin Gypsies that do get oppressed maybe he’s mixed.
The dark skinned gypsies you're talking about are the East European Roma.

The Romany clan BJS belongs to have the same roots, but they've been in the UK for around 5 hundred years, so yes, they are all pretty well mixed. You can't tell a UK Romany from an Irish Traveler, or either of them from a "regular" indigenous Brit, just by looking at them. It's their lifestyle and "Gypsy" culture - including the bare knuckle boxing - that makes them different, not their genetics.

                No worries mate!

I don't know where you're from, but in the UK, people generally view both Romanis and Travelers as part of the same group, and many don't even know that there are different types of gypsies with different roots.

Historically, they have always been distrusted and discriminated against. And many people still see them as lawless troublemakers, who will fight at the drop of a hat, and don't pay taxes or respect other people's land and property.

Until laws were brought in making it illegal, it was quite common to see pubs with "No dogs or gypsies allowed" signs over the doors.

Yeah, and I already pointed out it's a BS narrative that immediately unravels once you remove your hater vision goggles. Just to shoot down another one of your supposed examples since it was one that I glossed over earlier: Smith and Hearn had both mentioned as far back as September that Smith was training with the goal of fighting in Dec with or without Canelo while being aware they were in the running to lan that fight, but the situation remained uncertain because Canelo was tied up in litigation with Golden Boy.

Canelo was on the same track and it wasn't until early November that a settlement with GB was reached and he wasted no time in reaching out to the other champs even though the preparation time for a specific opponent wasn't ideal from his end either: “I don't care if it's December 19 or Christmas, I don't care, what I want is to fight this year and on any day. For me, when you have to work you have to work and I am willing to sacrifice anything. What I want is to make good fights and for people to see great fights, and they are all good fighters. We are going to see which one of them is more comfortable and ready for December"
But somehow it's supposed to be a bad thing to want to face a top guy who's willing and comfortable enough to step up?

And like I mentioned before, Canelo is the one currently on track to fight in Feb with a May turnaround (which was somehow not sufficient enough for Plant) while BJS will have a lengthy training camp from his end. And if Canelo pulls off that win (which I don't necessarily think will be an easy task), he's going to be the one fighting Plant coming off of 3 fights in short succession while Plant will have a lengthy camp from his end, but in your twisted view Canelo is the one being an opportunist with his timing? Again, ridiculous stuff.

By the way, if BJS and Caleb were willing to pass up on the opportunity of a lifetime and go to the back of the line even though nothing in the sport is guaranteed, then so be it, no one was forcing them to step up either way. But what's really pathetic is for a guy like Plant to run to the media crying about he's being victimized because he's unwilling to make big moves like Canelo. The reason they come up with such pathetic excuses is because they know there are Canelo haters like you will lap even the most irrational hater narratives and somehow criticize a guy for trying to unify.

the statute of limitations on your time to reply to my post has passed. Especially if you’ve chosen to respond by typing a novel. I’m not wasting time reading all of that.
