It looked like it fell out, there's always the chance he let it fall to buy time, which obviously isn't the same as quitting, there was a problem with Joshua, in hindsight, it is more clear, Ruiz didn't land any great shots in round 7, the body shots he landed in round 6 should have been more damaging, Joshua knew he was in trouble, still beat the count all 4 times, and didn't leave his answer open to interpretation when asked, he gave an answer to the question.

What can be questioned is Joshua's mentality, was he more relieved or disappointed when the referee stopped it? Did he want the referee to stop it? But he certainly didn't quit.

It doesn't happen often, and a lot of the time, there's a specific reason, Brook and Dubois quit for good reasons, not because it was getting too tough.

I dont buy that AJ quit.

Against Wlad it looked like he was prepared to be sparked out.

Against Ruiz he was concussed but responsive and trying to buy time and was probably about to be highlight reeled but to me he himself looked like he was at peace with that.

I always feel like the criticism comes from people who wanted to see AJ spectacularly knocked out because that was absolutely going to happen

A ref always has to stop the fight in those circumstances.

Unless it is Enzo Mac or David Price and then the rule appears to be to allow them to be spectacularly kayo'd.

I've seen lots of **** too, but repeated spitting the mouthpiece is something taught in gyms. Oldens used to do it to buy time, the refs are wise to it, they call the fight when you're milking the clock, today it's seen as a quit way out while you can still pretend for the camera you wanted to fight.

Joshua is something of a front runner. As long as he is controlling a fight, he's great. When things go a bit sour, he mentally doesn't always adjust. I know he recovered from being hurt by Whyte and Klitschko, but against Ruiz he folded mentally. Fury is by far the mentally tougher of the two.

So basically he l lost one single fight and you think he mentally can’t adjust? You just gave two examples yourself of where he absolutely did adjust.

This site in particular massively over hypes fury based on similarly very few fights, ignoring his other matches he hasn’t looked as effective.
