Timing and reflexes, reaction timing will go long before speed.
And while speedy I wouldn't say speed was one of his best attributes.
If you are fast you're fast just like a puncher they're just born that way. Even a retired sprinter well into his forties will be lightening quick & the decrease will be rather minimal from their peak.
RJJ was still lightening fast well in his forties even when out of shape he had blinding handspeed.
I can not recall one fighter in history whose speed suddenly declined at the age of 32. Maybe Lopez just made him look slower or his timing was out a bit from inactivity.

There was no dominating he won maybe 4 pretty close rounds after Lopez tired after dominating the first 7 rounds.

Almost stopped him? The only one that almost got stopped was Loma in the 12th round until some atrocious refereeing came to the rescue & bought him time.

About 4 seconds later he threw a faint, Lopez parried a left cross controlled Loma's right hand as Loma squared up, spun out then landed a right to the body which got a reactionand won the last 70 seconds of the round.

Loma won 4 rounds this was his best by far and it was anything but dominant.

Nobody wants to see him too scared to throw a punch again for 7 rounds.
