I thought you were supposed to try and make your opponent look more credible in a cherry pick situation?

MMA is an art too, it's just much younger. If we say Jack Dempsey ushered in the truly modern era of boxing, boxing still had a 70+ year head start on MMA.

MMA fighters usually train, at minimum:
        boxing
        Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
At least one form of wrestling (Freestyle, Collegiate, Greco-Roman, Catch, etc)
At least one form of kickboxing (Muay Thai, Dutch, American, Japanese, knockdown Karate, Sanda, Lethwei, Savate, etc)

A huge percentage also train Judo. And others train various Karate styles, Taekwondo, Chinese martial arts, etc.

If you're asking me what's more fun to watch, I'll say boxing every time. If you ask me whether boxers are better at their own sport than mixed martial artists are at theirs, the answer is probably yes.

But it's ignorant to deny the skill involved in MMA. The fighters have to cover so much in training because there are so many variables to worry about. It's really only been a major thing since the mid-1990s. Boxing has its ebbs and flows as far as style but it has basically been the same for 100+ years.

Two of the best strikers with their hands in MMA Anderson Silva and McGregor couldn't even make it to the world class journeyman stage in boxing. Both attempted boxing in their youth.

I dont see the issue atm, this is his 3rd pro fight and he is fighting a ex world champion form MMA. Sure its not the same but its also not some untrained bum who cant even go the rounds.

Well he’s half right. MMA striking is generally complete and utter ****e. The grappling is art though

Askren isn't even a striker, he's a wrestler. It won't be very pretty to watch. Jiu jitsu at a high level is impressive to watch though, bjj trickster on youtube is great.
