Canelo is now at 168 for what seems to be the foreseeable future. Who do you think poses the biggest threat to Canelo in all of boxing?

benavidez if he can still make 168 and be healthy, but thats a big if...
and to make things harder by the time they fight canelo will hold all the titles and a rehydration clause that comes with the ibf title...Last edited by icha; 01-26-2021, 02:27 PM.Comment

Agree that David Benavidez is Canelo’s threat are 168. The kid has serious some serious talent and I really hope we get see him reach his full potential. The other two fighters that I could see causing him trouble are BJS and Andrade - mostly because they run around the ring a lot which is a stylistic nightmare for a counterpuncher like Canelo. I also think BJS is a lot better than people give him credit for. That’s not to say he isn’t deserving of some of the criticism he receives but more pointing to the fact that he’s someone that fights up to their level of competition.
@175 there’s Bivol, Zurdo, and Beterbiev all of which would be great fights.Comment

Lol unless the opponent has more money to pay off the judges then nobody. But if i had to choose it would be andrade, charlo and benavidez. But knowing cvntnelo he'd add a rehydration clause and same day weigh in.Comment

Top 5 168lb threats for Canelo.
1)BJS - maybe the only guy I'd give a higher ring IQ to over Canelo, just seems to have an ability to know when he needs to turn it up & when he can turn it down to conserve energy
2)GGG - already has beaten Canelo twice in many fans minds & even those that disagree can't argue these two have had the most close 2 fights in a long ass time outside of one wonky ass scorecard
3)Benavdez - young, relentless & skilled = a tough fight for anyone, and he's likely still is gonna get better & more experienced
4)Plant - still relatively untested for his age, but gots some skills that could give a lot of guys trouble, maybe even Canelo
5)Jacobs - don't really think Danny is much of a threat, but I don't think anyone at 168 not listed above provides more of a threat than DannyComment

Theoretically movers like Saunders, Plant and Andrade present the most difficult stylistic problem for Canelo. But I don't think any of them have enough firepower to keep Canelo at bay, plus they all have a tendency to through stretches in fights where they lose concentration and get caught. Benavidez is the guy with the size and skills to do it, but I think he's probably a year away from really being ready for Canelo. He still may pose the toughest challenge atm, but it doesn't make sense for him right now.
Golovkin would probably still test Canelo, but I can't imagine it being more competitive than the first 2 fights. Jermain Charlo is an interesting one, he's got some tools that could prove difficult, but I'm not sure he'd hold up for 12 rounds and I think that fight could actually be a bit dull. If Bivol came down to 168, he's the answer, I think he'd give Canelo a real hard night's work. So, if the question is 168 and below, I'd say Benavidez or Bivol, but Canelo is still the favorite in those fights at this moment.
At 175, Beterbiev is the favorite over Canelo.Comment
