Wow, you mean before the four belt era, we were in the three belt era?

    Thanks for the heads up!

Lol this might be the ******est post I’ve ever read on this website and that’s saying a lot.

Lewis and his handlers hoped they could head off such a move with a letter sent to the Big Three--the WBA, WBC and IBF--a month after his victory over Holyfield."

What exactly makes a major a major?

Stank Davis isn't a full time jr. lightweight. Nobody outside of the most hardcore fans would even recognize who Jojo Diaz is. These are all the top fighters in the division. Stop pretending that not acknowledging a paper champ like Diaz is the same thing as ignoring a top pound for pound fighter.

The fact that you have to own it to be recognized as undisputed champion by everyone who covers the sport.

They weren’t known as the big three.

That wasn’t some nickname they had.

That was a reporter for the LA Times explaining to people who don’t know boxing that the WBA, WBC and IBF were the titles to know, since boxers fight for the NABF title on television.

The report you referenced was from the three belt era. Now it’s the four belt era.

No one pretends the WBO is a lesser belt except for Fox.

Clearly you were either lying or misinformed. Either way, the belts were known as the "big three" and FOX has chosen to continue that tradition.

Yeah, that's what folks tell me these days. Prior to that I believed it was recognition among the bodies themselves. WBA/C/O and IBF all recognized one another's champion as legitimate champions. When you went to one's rankings the others would be represented.

Presently, the WBC seems to have dropped the WBA. You'll see IBF and WBO champions on WBC ratings but not WBA champions. Conversely the WBA does recognize WBC/O and IBF.

If coverage makes a major then who else is there but PBC and DAZN and such to make it true? Obviously the bodies themselves can decide to drop recognition without anyone noticing, but, one of the outlets does it and it's a big deal? I dunno, if PBC wants to refuse the WBO that seems like their business...literally.

That said, I don't have any emotions or wants or points, just reckon it's an interesting topic.

This is why Dazn is best for Boxing. They do not ignore any fighter matter their affilations.
