Edgar Berlanga is going to be Boxing's next Superstar

You heard it here first. By the end of 2021, Berlanga is going to be one of the top 5 most popular boxers. Within a few years he will get a superfight with Canelo or GGG. This kid has all the makings of being a star. He just won the 2020 Prospect of year award after knocking out 3 opponents in the 1st round. Everyone ****s on his competition, but it was better than Mike Tyson's.

Brad Goodman, the veteran Top Rank matchmaker who assigned opponents to Berlanga this year, says, “No one was expecting him to knock out Eric Moon, Bellows or (Sierra) in one round. You’ve gotta start believing. Edgar Berlanga is earning it now.”

Berlanga manager Keith Connolly grew so tired of the ridicule he decided to calculate the records of Berlanga’s first 16 opponents to the first 16 foes of Tyson.

While four of Tyson’s first 16 opponents made it through the first round, their cumulative record was 125-87-6.

Berlanga’s 16, all flattened in the first, were a combined 175-67-16.

“There was so much hype around Tyson and so much doubt around Edgar, but if you really look into it and compare, Edgar is fighting much better guys,”
Connolly said. “And Edgar’s never stepped into the ring with an opponent who had a losing record. Tyson had five in his first 16.”

Hearing that, Berlanga replied, “Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.”
Edgar Berlanga recorded three more first-round KOs in 2020, pushing his streak for early finishes to 16 in as many bouts.

Whatever the kid's Manager says he needs to step up the level of competition. He has all the tools it seems, but he needs rounds, and he needs to be tested a bit. It's time to step up the match making!

Can we see him vs an established journeyman first? If I fight Uber drivers and Amazon Warehouse workers, I think I have a good shot at staying undefeated.

that's what they are doing.. fighting bums for the clean records.. 0-L is pointless if people knew it came from the bums.. example is loma he has a very few fights but those were came from known fighters though he got exposed by lopez..

that kid will go nowhere if he keeps fighting bums.. really should step up his competitions or he will be obsolete like the others.

They say that about lots of guys and it usually does not come true. His best opponent to date was rated 150th by boxrec. If he is still koing guys if and when he starts fighting guys in the top 20 then maybe so but I will wait until he does before I get too excited about him. They are feeding him garbage trying to make him a star but he must beat really good fighters to become a superstar and he is miles away from doing that right now.

why he doesn't mention that they were knock out 59 times. 16 opponents and 59 ko loses combined. Obviously the kid can punch, but he needs a live body that can and would punch back.
