The bottom line is with Callum smith its just a freak injury and has nothing to do with his gloves or getting punched.
If you are a trainer i pity the clowns you "train"

I could help you avoid injuries like this but the sad truth is most people don't do a lot of simple things they need to. Bicep tears, even the distal or proximal bicep tendon tears which are the two main types, are preventable with proper warmup, good nutrition (you know most Americans eat way too many inflammation promoting foods), proper stretching and massage. Guys to take PEDs are also vulnerable to this but lets not go there. But you don't just punch someone in the arm and the bicep tendon ruptures, that happens from excessive force on the bicep while in a not fully extended position. Trust me I have seen it happen in the gym before, I know how to recognize this injury.

Good grief. You didn't say what you are supposedly a trainer of? I'm guessing cats or dogs.

Funny that Smith himself acknowledge that Canelo's punches fcked his arm up, but you, Eddie Futch Jr, say, nope, nothing at all to do with punches.

Humans. Exercise physiology. Nobody is saying that the punches arent going to hurt the site of the injury once you tear it. But the tear in and of itself isn't caused by a punch. Otherwise you would see this injury all the time cuz arm punches happen every fight.

Who even said it was a tear? Eddie Hearn?

IDK but when you've seen people with this injury before its pretty obvious. His bicep detached from the bone and rolled up the arm. I've seen this injury in person more than one time. And hundreds of times in videos. If you deadlift with an alternative grip it's common on the underhand side if you don't fully extent your arm. There's a pop, the tendon tears and the muscle rolls up your arm. Never without fail looks exactly like what I saw with Callum Smith, I knew it was a torn bicep the second I saw it.
