this will actually be the first time Canelo has ever faced a mandatory. Funny thing is, mandatories he’s had in the past were Ggg and canelo dropped his belt instead of facing him, Derveyenchenko and canelo ended up getting stripped of his ibf title, and Charlo which is when the Wbc stripped him but created the very prestigious franchise title. Funny that now, when Yidilgrim is the mandatory, canelo feels the string desire to fulfill this important obligation.

He seems to have very little desire to fight Americans. If you look at his resume over the past 5 years, there’s a heavy focus on facing European fighters.
