I like Canelo, but....

Callum Smith is a professional fighter, he should have stayed ready in case the call came. His name had been bandied about as a potential opponent earlier in 2020 already.
Andy Ruiz got 5 weeks notice for Anthony Joshua.Comment

Professional athletes should always be in top shape. It’s their career. Their job.
Or at least in half way decent shape where if they only get a few weeks notice as opposed to a full 8 weeks, they could get prepared.Comment

Canelo stayed in the gym and stayed ready like a world champion is supposed to do. But u are correct in terms of preparing for a fight they both had the same amount of timeComment

Fury didn't do anything to his gloves. You sound like an idiotI like Canelo because I like boxing and I love seeing great fighters fight. It's not personal to me in the least bit. I may have thought that Fury messed with the gloves against Wilder, and that there are good chances that he was on something against Klitschko, but I will never miss one of his big fights. He's my favorite heavyweight hands down and my favorite boxer in the game now.
And that's the difference between me and you.Comment

I hear ya man. I think you made some great points, and you acknowledged as well that some of that wasn't really directed towards me, which I appreciate.I completely understand you and get that. My post wasn’t a bash on you for starting the thread. We also need to acknowledge the PED issue regarding Canelo. It is suspect and su****ious. Especially with it happening in-between the GGG fights.
I just know that in a thread like this, and in most threads on NSB, it eventually evolves into posters just bashing HOF or even ATG boxers and I just felt like I needed to say something about that.
I think the super fans and super haters are out of line, equally really. Just wish there was a bit more nuanced and less emotional discussion on fighters/fights sometimes, especially on a serious boxing website.
People say I love GGG, but to me, I just see a lot of crazy comments about him. You can definitely find positive comments on here that I've made about Canelo as well. I don't call him any PEDNelo names or anything like that.
Most of these guys are probably doping anyway. But as you said, there are ways to question and critique fighters without being petty and nasty.
I just try in my own way to inject to rationality to discussions on here. If people were going around saying GGG would KO Fury or Wilder or something. I would say, uh no. What are you talking about?
I feel like I see a lot of those types of comments though on here, not just anti-GGG, but just crazy comments in general.
Reasoning with hardcore fans is never going to be a fruitful task however. I do think people should be more polite on here though, your posts are a good reminder of that.Comment

You don't think some of those quick turnarounds are su****ious drug testing wise....
Fighters should always stay in shape. If a guy is known for needing time to cut weight, and/or just had a tough fight, forcing him into a quick turnaround doesn't exactly seem most fair.
I know you see some of that stuff man....Comment
