No top level SMW can make WW so yes Spence would be a very small SMW. He's completely unproven above 147 so it's a cherry pick and he gets no credit if he fights him above 154.

You’re confused with limitation. Canelo isn’t draining to make 168. I think he’s cutting around 7lbs to hit the scale. Like many fighters moving up, they build mass to transition there. How did Vinny Paz get to 168 with his post and previous physiques? Spence drains 13lbs to hit 147 and is slim in the ring, BUT HE can add mass to get to 168. Again, he’s walking around at 180lbs. Be it booty or boob fat or his bloated face, he can easily compete at 160. Fighting at 168 would be the daring to be great part from Spence since SRL did it with LaLonde and from Hagler. Was SRL overweight? No... he prepped and ready to go proper from his thin frame at 147.

Spence and Canelo are about the same height but Canelo has a naturally thicker boned, more muscular build. You can get away with fighting bigger opponents if you are levels above them in skill and ability like RJJ vs Ruiz but when you're fighting someone of the same level or higher, it doesn't work. If Spence was some atg level talent who had proven he can hang at higher weights it would be a different story.

How in the hell do you know what Spence weighs walking around??? Did you grab him and throw him on a scale? Spence just proved he is a welterweight by making 147 against Garcia and being strong as a bull and throwing 800 punches. Canelo can't even make 160 without weakening himself and will never again fight at that weight. So Spence is a big welterweight and Canelo is a full sized super middleweight no matter how you try to spin it.
