Back in the day when boxing had more stars in it, fighters could afford leaving some money at the negotiating table because they saw the bigger picture, and that bigger picture was win lose or draw, if I can just put on a good performance, I can still make mone later in a rematch or against other ppv fighters and I'll be OK, fighters like Marquez, Pacquiao, Cotto, Dela Hoya and so on made hundreds of millionswith numerous losses on their records. It doesn't really work like that anymore unfortunately, and a generation of fighters is going to have to take massive cuts and risks for the sport to stay alive and for it to have more superstars again.
Back then there were real boxing fans. Fans who appreciated the way you fought not just whether they could get behind you and brag. People try and blame Mayweather when all Mayweather did is play a certain sector of fans against themselves. Made them wanna see him lose to the tune of millions. Now that same sector uses herd mentality to rally behind the next great undefeated guy who will show the world boxing is not about the fighters and their welfare and future, but only about the fans and what they want because these uneducated lumps aren’t supposed to get generational wealth (while keeping their health) just because they are athletic and can fight.

To me 70/30 is an insult, not helping a serious try at making the fight, they will probably throw stones at each other for a while see how much yap yap in forums etc is going on and when they think the time is right make the fight.

I agree with Crawford, 70-30 is very laughable! I also agree with Spence, Bob is probably lying about a lot of things!

Crawford needs to change weightclasses. If his pride won’t late him bite the bullet on Spence’s btch ass. Go up, or go down.

Bud sounds like a man who knows he’s not in the top negotiating position but doesn’t want to admit it. His promoter literally said he’s losing money paying him $4M a fight. How do you then go to Spence and demand 50-50?

This is a 50/50 fight. Crawford is the more accomplished boxer but spence has an extra belt in this division.

I personally tune in for all of crawford's fights for the last 5 years. Spence fights.... Not so much. He isn't as exciting or talented as crawford

Anyone who thinks the financial split is 50-50 or anything in favor of Crawford is borderline ******. Crawford holds no leverage, continues to fight washed up opponents and his own promotor disrespects and devalues him as a fighter and a man.

Bud just doesn’t understand supply and demand not does he get it that he would actually make more money if he was his own promoter. He is literally being paid by Arum rather than just paying his manager and corner. That’s so interesting about that $4m figure is I would venture to guess that after taxes, paying the manager, paying the corner, and Arum taking his cut, and paying Arum’s taxes as well, he is seeing no more than $1.5m of that money at best. Normally I don’t bring up money but that seems to be an excuse in getting this fight done. Consequently, all this talk about this fight is moot anyway....this would require cross promotion of two networks at this point....ESPN and FOX, it would probably be held at AT&T Stadium, and it would require Haymon and Arum to work together. NONE OF THAT IS HAPPENING until the pandemic is either over or they can fill a stadium with the potential 50-70K tickets to be sold. Spence is clearly a draw in his home town, and the he bigger PPV draw. In a healthier economy the ppv could potentially hit anywhere from 400k-800k with good promotion requiring tie in shoulder programming.
None of that is happening right now so the Spence hating kids (who have a permanent case of the red arse over black fella Haymon being so successful with PBC) and the Crawford haters (who sell Crawford short on accomplishments and talent) will simply have to wait.
The fight won’t happen until Crawford leaves for pbc. I personally don’t see it happening as Spence will most likely move to Jr middle in 2022.
