Are you saying that if Joshua had not got knocked out by Ruiz then he would have had a claim on being lineal? If so, it makes no sense that Fury is lineal without having faced either of them. If not, why bring it up?
The point is that lineal is up for dispute because no one authority defines who is lineal. Which is where a belt is , in theory, the cleaner method. But of course, there are multiple belts and the sanctioning bodies are useless.
Fury clearly was lineal once. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he was no longer lineal after such an extended period of inactivity. I think it is a little unreasonable to say he is lineal from beating Wilder, a non-unified champ who wasn't that good and beat nobody of any real note.
