Low Risk High Reward

fair example......but you act like theres alot of it going on....Mikey Garcia chasing to fight EJ instead of Loma to unify or Bud at 140.
Low risk cuz nobody actually expected Mikey to win. It's a fight that nobody wants to see and nobody's gonna diminish Mikey's skills if he loses. High reward cuz if you move up 2 weight classes and beat EJ, you're p4p #1.
If he had fought Lomachenko, he probably woulda won, but if he'd lost that fight it woulda been a much bigger hit to the resume. Same with Bud.
If Spence does the same thing with Canelo, that'd be another example. GGG the way he's chasing Canelo but not the Charlos, that's another example.
thats one.....and yeah spence has floated the idea which i still think is unlikely.....making garcia/spence was super easy for haymon and he got mikey a nice payday...making mikey/loma not as easy.....bob isnt making alot of fights with the pbc unless its beneficial for both of them or they both need each other like wilder/fury.....
i think spences likely move is pac or thurman..or both..and then bud....but one never knows i guess....a canelo fight is big..it doesn big in texas...its a huge payday and he might still be able to fight bud too without having his rep take a huge hit
its not always just as easy as saying "oh go unify against loma"....its the same reason you dont see crawford saying "oh yeah were gonna call kenny porter"...its not that easy....arum was on audio/vid saying hed probably offer porter 1 mil or a little more to fight bud....you think porter is gonna take that? no way......bob has a problem meeting the demands of a top named pbc fighter coming over unless its a ppv/split fight
spence talking about canelo is like reverse andre ward or golovkin mentioning floyd....canelo is the prize and anyone within a whiff of him will float the ideaLast edited by Curt Henning; 12-22-2020, 03:49 PM.Comment

I just hope it doesn't become a bigger problem. Guys seem big on selling their 0 to the highest bidder when they don't want to take the risk of losing to a guy who people will give them **** for losing to.Comment

Kovalev is doing a high-risk low reward fight against 6-0 Bektemir Melikuziev. I have seen some of his fights and he looks really good but nobody knows who he is. It's a lose-lose fight for Kovalev, you either beat a nobody or get beaten by a nobody.Comment

I think truly Spence believes he beats Canelo. I don’t think it’s him selling his 0 to him.fair example......but you act like theres alot of it going on....

well...yeah the paycheck that comes has alot more to do with it...also like ive said....mikey making a fight with spence is alot easier than mikey making a fight with arumComment

i agree
it doesnt make a ton of sense of him selling himself to canelo when he can try to fight pac or thurman and bud and still make a bunch of money....
for mikey even if he fought loma instead of spence he was prob making half of the money fighting loma at best....Comment

Kovalev, unlike a lot of these Eastern European guys, has always taken on the toughest competition. Event though I can't stand the guy he takes on all comers and never ducks anyone. However, he's another example of him selling a belt to Canelo. Shameful that he even took that fight.Comment

Spence doesn't think he can beat Canelo. Brook was coming off of a more dominating win against Porter than Spence was when he went up 2 weight classes to face GGG. No way he thought he was gonna win. Canelo today at 160 is just as good if not better than GGG at 160 then.
EDIT: Maybe he thinks he CAN, but he knows it's a much tougher win than Porter or Danny Garcia.Comment

From a purely financial standpoint the order for Spence needs to bei agree
it doesnt make a ton of sense of him selling himself to canelo when he can try to fight pac or thurman and bud and still make a bunch of money....

1. Manny- the aging ppv star to give him a boost. He would be to Spence what fishnets was for Floyd.
2. Crawford- win and you’re now unified ww champ and p4p #2 assuming Canelo is still winning. See how many ppv’s are sold to measure your star power. Would be like a Shane/ hatton combo.
3. Canelo- MOOOOLah from a fight with the cash cow. Top 2 p4p fighters meeting in the most anticipated fight since Floyd/Manny.Comment
