    Canelo Round 12 1:40

Canelo clearly lets Smith know that his tricep finally gave way as to suggest Callum should yield to save his arm. When Smith decided to carry on Canelo continued to hammer it to force the KO, but Smith decided he'd rather risk permanently damaging his arm.

Smiths Corner should have stopped the fight on the 11th. They clearly knew he was losing and his arm was already fked.

Callum made it that far, might as well finish it.

That makes sense if you're not clearly injured. A corner especially your family should care about your long-term health in gernal. This isn't tennis lives are at stake.

I agree completely,I thought his corner should've thrown in the towel a few rds sooner because Smith was getting battered like a rag doll pińata,I agree completely that fighters should be saved for another day in that situation which is why I also can no longer stand Wilder because he threw his team under the bus who he should be thanking for saving him for another day when Fury was going to end his career that night had it continued.

That being said I knew Smith would be very resilient & he showed tremendous heart not often seen by british fighters because they're corner would throw the towel in that situation normally.

Canelo let Smith off the hook in the last portion of the 12th, I think it was the last clinch where smith initiated the clinch out the blue and when they broke Canelo gave smith a look of pitty and no longer tried to land big instead just posture on smith till the bell rang.

Exactly. He could continue, so he did. Biggest fight in his life. He wasent competitive at all, so he at least owed it to himself to finish it. He was losing bad, but it wasent a gruesome beating. I doubt he could really make it much worse once it was injured. Wasent in enough pain to quit. I mean the Canelo punches are what he was feeling. Tricep injuries can take a long time to heal. Still it’s not like he’s going to fight any time soon after getting the brakes beat off him.

COVID is making some fight fans quick to pull the plug ?

I think he realized that he wasn't gonna knock Smith out & he had already put in a impressive performance so there was no reason to break Smiths arm just to get hit a few more times by Smith for nothing because Smith just wasn't going down,he weighs almost 200 lbs on the night & hes in his prime so he was capable of taking the 1st royal asswhoopin of his career in stride no matter what Canelo did.

(Smith did what human nature tells you to do when youre up against someone in a different stratosphere & know youre just flat out incapable of beating someone above your level in most ways, you leave your hands at home & focus on defense & looking busy,Jacobs,Chavez jr the bum & Kovalev & even lesser extent Ggg did the same thing, they knew Canelo was faster & was going to left hook gut punch them Everytime they throw anything significant so they didn't fight like Normal because the last thing they wanted was to be kod by the lil ginger they talked so much sht about not being the real deal,so they went into protection mode almost impossible to ko.

I wish Canelo would learn to flurry to get stoppages but I guess maybe he doesn't because its always risking getting winded & lucky haymakered by opponent like Buster Douglas,I am convinced had he flurried hed have gotten the stoppage

Well I think there’s “new parameters” being placed on almost everything in society right now. Being the first commentator to say “they need to stop this fight” and then going on a spiel about how much you care about fighters safety etc. That’s the progressive angle to take now. I’m not saying it’s wrong or right, but it’s still just opinions. There’s experienced refs and corner men who have a lot more invested that make the decisions. Big time fights, champions, millions of dollars being earned... there’s so much controversy in fight outcomes, sometimes letting things really play out is the for the best. I think covid has affected a lot of peoples opinions on things in all sorts of ways...
