If Smith and GGG lost to Ryder and Devry, “winner” had pointless fights w/ Canelo?

I keep telling you guys, hating on Canelo is ******, and Floyd passed the torch.
Every fighter that ever fought Floyd close got a rematch.

Nobody hates Canelo but I consider him to be the best fighter out there. Is it unreasonable to want him do fight better competition than the sixth or seventh best option?

The even better question is why didnt Canelo want the WBC belt until Benavidez lost it on the scales? That wouldve been a fight that got the blood flowing.

It seemed like he wanted to get a fight done before the years end.

I thought Golovkin narrowly beat Derev, as did most people, but some did see it differently, a lot of them Canelo fans with an agenda. No agenda with how we saw Ryder-Smith because nobody knew he'd be fighting Canelo. In fact back then Canelo fans said Smith lost to Ryder and that he ******. Now they talk up how great he is as an opponent

            Not quite the same thing
This. Smith-Ryder was a 1 man fight all day. At least GGG was landing some big shots in rounds he was getting outworked in, and he had a chance to get to 6 rounds and a W on the cards.

If you gave Smith a W, you had to be in his family.

Plant wasn’t interested twice. If you’re your own promoter YOU MAKE THE CALLS, not, “let’s see what Al says” as if they’re Mayweather circumstance to say such a thing. Andy Ruiz got more balls than Plant. PAC rose to fame by short notice. These excuses from fans are gay... seriously. If you claim you can beat Canelo make the move. Plant since February to December dodged the fight. This Tenessee dummmy ain’t about that life

A native of the state.... obviously it's not where your from that makes you dumb. It possibly could just be individual people such as yourself. My point is before you criticize intelligence because of where somebody is from try and do a spell check otherwise it makes you seem dumber than they are.

Interesting; I saw GGG-SD and had GGG winning (despite the awful announcers on DAZN suggesting otherwise); I entirely believe that GGG was ill at the time--he looked very off before the fight; that and the fact that SD was highly motivated and fought the fight of his life made what probably would have been a routine Golovkin win a real struggle.

I did not see the Smith- Ryder fight and have no opinion on the scoring, but...

                      1) Did Smith have any problems that lead to a sub-par performance on the night?

                      2) How good is John Ryder? I'm aware that his record is 28-5 with 16 KOs, but prior to the Smith fight he had won four straight fights by knockout and the "spin" was that he had been poorly guided/trained early in his career and had only recently mastered his craft. What is your opinion?
