The fact that the division is laden with stiff European bums is in part why its weak.

I mean for god sakes pulev just got a title shot. If he is the mando for a title how can the division be good?
So 147 is weak because Spence had a mandatory vs Ocampo? 140 is weak because Taylor just had a weak mando? 168 weak because Yildirim has one. 160 weak because Golovkin has one this weekend. 175 weak because Beterbiev has a weak one next month. Teo about to have a mandatory vs a guy we all know isn't good enough. So all those division are weak because a lesser fighter gets a mandatory shot?

      Deal with it

Would anybody pick Wilder to beat Chagaev, a prime version? How about Valuev? Haye? Ibragimov?

The HW division isn't that weak. We still get entertaining fights despite being in the middle of a pandemic. Is it as good as the 70's, 80's or early 90's? No, but it's all we got, so quit yer whining!

Hell, Wilder couldn't even beat Fury, a classic light puncher who JUST realized that he's a huge SOB with KO power.

It is in fact the weakest era for HW division. It's just that they are all equally marginal fighters so they are competitive. Fury standing at 6'9" has a distinct advantage to go along with his decent but not great boxing skills. If he were seven inches shorter he would be a poor man's Chris Byrd. I was never a fan of Wlad, and his reign as champion is also an indication of a weak division for the past two decades.

If Wlad was American, he would be called one of the best heavyweights ever. I don`t see much difference between him and Holmes.

Some of these are hard picks. Ibragimov was skilled but performed poorly vs Wlad. Hard to pick a guy like that to turn up and win. Wilder would beat Valuev, the height difference made him hard to catch but tall Wilder with that looping right would catch him flush a lot

The best, most talented divisions are whatever one or two divisions the Americans still do good in.

It really is the same old story, an undeniable pattern you recognise shortly after getting into boxing. If the American loses, it was always a crap division, but if the American wins, then the bum he beat immediately becomes a worthy adversary and great scalp.

This coming from a country that calls its national sports championships 'world series/world championship' or whatever. They truly are God's gift to the world, whatever sport that they play and ONLY they play, they are the best at. What a coincidence...

                      It's not bad

No worse than the Klit era heavys.

Fury is a special one in a lifetime type fighter though. Future GOAT.
