In a controversial and subjective sport these 3 were a no-brainer decision.

I guess in a way that is better than what MLB does. They have a finite limit as to how many years or how many times you can try to get in. I hope Cotto gets in at some point. They should also vary how many get in based on the selection. If there are 5 clear cut HOF that should get in, no reason why they should not and have to wait another year etc. If there is only 1 clear cut HOF then limit it to just that one.Once you're on the ballot, you stay on it forever until you get voted in.
There's a lot of guys on it - Eubank, Hamed, Froch etc - who have been on it for a while but not voted in
Reducing the retirement threshold from 5 to 3 years means it's a lot tougher for guys who have been on the ballot for ages, to get inducted now.
Cotto will get in definitely at some point, probably next year but to be a first ballot now is a tough raceComment

Very good point. I am not knocking Ward even though he is the local star. Like you pointed out, Cotto went up against the best win or lose he gave tremendous performances. He was never boring. Ward was great at one point but he was more of a roller coaster in his outings and popularity.————-
It’s a travesty that Cotto wasn’t a shoo in the first time.
Cotto is one of my favorite fighters. He was always game and gave it his all even in defeats.
How could Cotto not make the cut the first time? I love Andre Ward and not knocking on him but how is Ward a shoo in and not Cotto who won titles at 140, 147, 154 and 160 and fought all the top guys of his time?
With Ward I think it was more of his undefeated status and that is the biggest marketing tool today with promoters. They love marketing the undefeated status. I hope Cotto gets in sooner than later.Comment

Not high nor Puerto Rican. Just a fan of boxing. I see no reason why Cotto should not be in. Would you say Manny deserves to be in when he is eligible? Manny's greatest moments were almost 10 years ago or longer. What exactly is the reason why Cotto should not be in the HOF?Comment

Ward is a shoo-in because by winning the Super Six he defeated just about all of the top guys in his era at 168. His haters will point to the fact that he didn't have to travel, however I would argue that the round robin format over nearly two years ensured that the winner didn't benefit from a favorable draw or style matchup.————-

Also, keep in mind that it's easier for fighters in lower weight classes to win belts in multiple divisions. Cotto started at 140 and went up to 160, which covers four divisions. Ward started at 160 and ended up at 175, which covers three divisions. A fourth division for Ward would have meant moving all the way up to 200 lbs.Comment

Did you just compare Cotto to Manny Pacquiao? Not high nor Puerto Rican. Just a fan of boxing. I see no reason why Cotto should not be in. Would you say Manny deserves to be in when he is eligible?
