I don't understand how you are fairly logical on some things. And then way off on others.

Young Mayweather was exciting! Stevenson is very skilled and talented but not as exciting, not must watch TV. Him as well as Haney wants to skip straight to being "Money" Mayweather and want to be Defensive and not really put punches together. While I appreciate Hit and Not Get Hit style, I'm a Hardcore Boxing Fans. For the Casuals, that is not going to make them a fan, that is NOT going to make them pay to see you and that is NOT going to Deliver Ratings or get you PPV Buys!

At this age and at this stage of their careers you have to put on a show to BECOME a Superstar!

Younger Mayweather before the Brittle Hands was very exciting to watch he wasn't just Defensive First. Pernell Whitaker as well!

Mayweather didn't have power at 147 or 154 but went up there and beat many men with more power than him.

        Boxing is not just power.

            Boxing is not just power.
Mayweather had power at 130, 135 and 140. 147 he had enough pop to get respect from those guys. DLH was a bit older at 154, Cotto had already been beat to death by Margarito and Pac and Mayweather even hurt him. Anyone with a full functioning brain knew he was gonna beat Canelo. Canelo was easy to outbox. Lara did it after Maweather and Trout was doing it before the open scoring was announced. So Mayweather had respectable power. You weren't gonna just just take 5-6 of his punches to land one and he had great defense.

That's what I'm saying. Mayweather wasn't fighting like Haney and Stevenson this early in his career. He was knocking mfers out. He became safer as he moved up in weight. If these guys are fighting like this now, imagine them at 140 or 147 eight years from now. lol.

They are not gonna be facing anyone good at 147lbs.

Hey I'm sure he has had some true fans out there who really followed him. I've just seen too many 'Ward would have schooled this guy, like Mayweather would have' comments from Ward fans.

He and Floyd fought nothing alike. If they compared him to Bhop or something, OK, I get it. But yeah I feel like a lot of the Ward support out there is superficial and tribal. That is true for a lot of fighters though. Still a lot of casual-ness even on a hardcore forum like this.

                  --------

To the central point, I haven't seen enough of Shakur to comment. He does seem to be more like a Mayweather boxer type. Ward was a roughhouse, smart, tough fighter. We didn't know how much dog, and chin, Floyd had until he got into tougher fights.

I guess as he gets into more fights, we will see what Shakur has. I know some were comparing Haney to Floyd, and I ain't seeing that one yet.
                  Good break downs.
I did follow Ward's ( professional ) career and Stevensons.
And yes. IMO they both have / had boring styles.

I'll give him a chance for when he starts fighting the other top fighters. He's beating guys levels below him, when he fights better guys he may be forced into doing more. I'm done watching him fight these bums though. Has talent, but his record is almost as padded as Inoue's and Zelenoff's.
