Yea folks love fighting when its happening on the street corner so the interest is always there. Boxing how it works tests that interest I feel like with all this out of the ring bs, but these novelty fights can hype cats up with lil normal selling measures cuz folks just love the drama of a fight. The only part I don't understand is when he compares potential PPV buys for Mayweather-Paul vs. Wilder-Fury II. Mayweather-Paul also has a chance, I guess, to outsell every UFC PPV ever too. I don't know if that's a boxing problem or a combat sports problem in general.
People will always care more about celebs fighting vs. pros because of the potential for embarrassment. They want to see if the same thing happens like Nate Robinson. That potential for embarrassment doesn't exist with other sports like that. And people are more curious to see celebs get embarrassed than pros they've never heard of doing it for a living.
Randomly I feel a small part of the hype with big legit boxing matches is all the famous folks in attendance so even when they aren't actually in the ring famous folks being there in the crowd sells a fights importance.Comment

Pretty much this, and if you say too much you would get labelled for criticising or pointing the reasons why these fights are not getting made. It’s difficult to boxing to be rescued from this mess when some section of fans are content with mediocrity.Comment

Some Boxing fans are the biggest idiots in sports. They think this is a “Victory” for the sport. Our sport is a laughing stock. The top guys in the UFC are millionaires and that’s without endorsements. No they aren’t boxing millionaires however they continue because unlike boxing the best fights the best at all times. See groupies such as yourself is the primary reason why boxing has becoming a laughingstock and is in the s h I t t e r.
Instead of saying what every true fan already knows that there’s a huge problem you shield your eyes and pretend it doesn’t exist. All the while chanting but muh muh muhweather ppv buys. Ever see boxing outside of the top echelon? They are dirt poor. Most have 2nd and 3rd jobs. 90% of boxers are paid crappy. But you’ll never admit that because you have your own agenda.Comment

I'm not sure anything could outdraw AJ/Fury, but the difference between the two is consistency. Sure, if/when the trigger is finally pulled on AJ vs Fury after years of waiting, it'll do a good number. Then it'll be back to business as usual with boxing barely getting on PPV and the handful of fights that do usually getting ****ty numbers, for another year or two until the trigger finally gets pulled on another fight that we've waited years to see. The needle moves infrequently, whereas the UFC is a relatively consistent PPV draw with no need to supplement its buyrates with celebrity fights.Comment
