both those dudes look really slow basic sloopy making mutiple mistakes and stiff they look horrible as the whole era looks the same trash

Okay, I disagree for two reasons. One, I’m not one of the people who thinks that everything necessarily gets better with time. Things can also devolve, and that includes the quality of sports. Two, you say he was 190, Wilder is not much heavier than that and is still knocking out most everyone fifty pounds heavier than him. Dempsey, Marciano, Johnson, and others very well could have successfully gained fifteen to twenty pounds and done the same to the heavyweights of today. Prime Mike Tyson was a tiny heavyweight and would have probably destroyed every heavyweight today. And as for “holding and circling”, some fighters may have a “boring” style and yet are skilled enough with that style to beat most anyone. Haney gets a lot of criticism on this forum for his fighting style, and yet no one has been able to beat him up to this point.

So for these reasons, I strongly disagree with your logic.

Also, don’t forget that the old fighters your thinking of didn’t have access in many cases to good nutrition and recovery methods that exist today. Had they fought now they would have likely been even greater due to access to modern medical treatments.
