no you moron, he's game to fight anyone..but he isnt marketable so is left picking up scraps on a random promotion.
he's taking this fight because he has nothing else.

    Why isn’t he marketable ?

He talks rubbish and has no real management and seems to fall out with his promoters.

Why did Hearn/Matchroom kick him to the kerb ?

Eddie was saying that he didn't even know who he was after he lost to Usyk.
That is how poorly he was promoted prior. Now he's in his 30s and no one cares because he's already lost to Usyk and drew with povetkin. Hard to promote the guy really.

However I'd rather watch him fight than that Carlton banks wannabe Danny Jacobs. He's boring as fk but Eddie seems to love him

Well that sounds about right. I think Ortiz wouldn’t mind choosing Laughery for a stay busy fight, especially after his last bout which lasted only for a few seconds.

Ortiz career, other than Jennings and Wilder, has been filled with stay-busy fights.

Hunter has a much better resume than many HW contenders. Compare his ledger with Ortiz, whose claim to fame is getting sparked out by Wilder twice and beating Bryant Jennings.

Hunter's issue is he came up from cruiserweight without any fanfare. He has wins against Kiladze, Bakole, Kuzmin and Ustinov and fought a close fight with a dangerous Povetkin. He wanted the Joshua fight that Ruiz ultimately got.

Not sure if there's something going on behind the scenes as to why he was dropped by Hearn and hasn't been picked up by I don't think the issue is him avoiding the big names.

How is he not avoiding big fights, fighting guys outside the top 50 / 100 ? On a platform that will get him dropped in the rankings ? You guys are using past tense but what about now ? Of course he wanted the AJ fight that’s what his plan was ,past tense but he’s going the wrong way now when Hrgovic was offered he self admitted his schedule is busy , busy from what ? Frank Sanchez ,Jennings, and Wallin would all take that fight . After the Povetkin fight which I thought he lost ,this guy clearly hit the reset button .

So he needs 3 tunes ups on a non sports network ? By the time the coast is clear and Hrgovic has his title shot his own and or Hunter gets lucky and for whatever reason is awarded a final elimination fight vs Martin or Ruiz first if those rankings stand but that’s if Hunter doesn’t fall out of the spot after AJ eliminates Pulev which puts Hunter in title contention in 2022 .

However he will probably be dropped in rankings on who he’s already signed to fight ,3 guys with no standings and it’s clear Hrgovic is not in Hunters future . I think he knows it’s not a good chance he wins that one ,I think it’s a complete mismatch .

Povetkin has Covid, and Hrgovic just fought.

I don’t know who Laughery is but Ortiz resume and decisions have been very laughable so that would make sense .

Seriously, how exactly do you think he's avoiding fights? He fought his last fight against Povetkin in December 2019, the pandemic hits and no fights are being held. In July of 2020, he is dropped by Matchroom. You think he avoided getting paid and signing with a top promotion to avoid big fights? The dude fought Fury (decision loss), Beterbiev (overtime loss) and Andy Ruiz (win) in the amateurs, he has more quality opponents and wins than alot of the other HW contenders.

You think Hunter gets on the phone, calls up Arum or Haymon demands a big fight and they just say sure thing? Even when he signed with Matchroom, Hearn kept him away from his house fighters. He's not with a major promotion at the moment so it's a little difficult to get a big fight as a free agent. How many big HW fights have there been since the pandemic? So now tell me how he's avoiding the big fights.
