But it's still better, much much better, when you got a big structural ent^ty driving towards looking out for your sport like the NBA is, like the NFL is, like MLB is & yes like the UFC is.

Boxing is a flea market sport in a world full of Amazon & Walmart sports. And sometimes boxing can get a lot of mfers to the flea market like this old guy fight & guys like Canelo prove, but the thing is boxing should be having a bigger audience every week not just 2 or 3 times a year.

A lot of it is the ppv model and the lack of continuity.

When you look at sports that are big, half of what makes them interesting is the discussions during the week and having a team to support.

I think boxing should try something like "Gym Wars". Obviously this is more difficult with combat sports and might work out more on the amateur circuit. However I think it would attract interest if local gyms entered some type of league.

I also think they need to abandon the ppv model. It will always be a niche sport because most people are not willing to spend $50 a fight. Because it is a niche sport, it is not discussed so it doesn't become a part of socialising with others.

I think they need to redo ppv honestly . showtime and HBO ppv are top notch with the camera work and quality but the commentary is just lackluster and and all that talking bs . idk if ufc does it like that but cmon . Tyson just needs to move along everyone respects what he's done but just hang them up or at least make the next exhibition for goddamn free .

No doubt. There is no meaningful narrative in boxing for most fights. In fairness part of the problem for an easy example is if a guy has trained 8 weeks for a fight & he won but now he's got a bad cut that's gonna take a couple months to heal fully it's hard to schedule events. That's a fair issue & definitely a problem, but it's made even more difficult with how all over the place boxing operates & how many things need to line up to make any one fight.

When you look at sports that are big, half of what makes them interesting is the discussions during the week and having a team to support.
I agree. And I think podcasts & some of the things PBC does with these NFL-like group discussions are great additions to the sport among others being more creative. I'd like to see more folks trying things like this.

I also think these face to face things HBO invented but many have copied are great hype mechanisms for the sport.

I think tournaments, state or region oriented, at the 4 to 8 round level of boxing would make a great feeder like situation to getting more talented guys out of the lower levels of the sport quicker so yea I'm with you on this. One of the big holes in boxing as I see it is talented guys waste away for years if they aren't found straight outta the amateurs. I think this also could be a way to make more grassroots fans in smaller communities that helps everyone in the sport. I think people are more likely to become long term fans when they are connected more to something & seeing your local guy go onto bigger & better things would do that often for folks.

I also think they need to abandon the ppv model. It will always be a niche sport because most people are not willing to spend $50 a fight. Because it is a niche sport, it is not discussed so it doesn't become a part of socialising with others.
PPV is a problem with growing the sport so I think it needs to be reduced if boxing is to achieve it's highest peak in sports, but cuz of the hole boxing has dug itself into with numerous -EV tactics & bs it feels like a necessary evil for the time being until boxing can sustain itself better without it. I mean it's not like you couldn't do it now, but I feel like it'd be impossible to get the guys making multi millions per fight to take less money for the sake of improving boxing for the era after they are retired or at best their later years.

I dont really disagree, but to play devils advocate, this issue doesnt seem to effect the UFC. They go to PPV every few weeks with success.

                No.

                Boxing is a individual sport.

People need to stop letting weasels run their life 'What I am talking about goes beyond boxing, far too many people let weasels wants and interests impact on their lives'.

So you are willing to dismantle the sport of boxing, just so you can socialize with some weasels during the week? Sort it out mate.

Violence pretty much sells itself, to the right kind of people. If you have to dismantle the sport, just to catch the attention of certain people 'Those people are not the type of people, that I want to talk boxing with etc'.

It's good to attract the younger crowd with these YouTube/social media stars.

I have no problem with it.

There's room for both this and for "real boxing."

al gaymon and pbc must be boycotted - to force those cowards to go broke and then they will be forced to fight the fights the public is demanding.

When we flush pbc and al gaymon down the toilet, boxing can be great again.

                      Those are all great ideas.

I would also like to see high schools have boxing teams again. Small communities would eat that up when rival schools come to face off against their local kids.

Plus boxing is great exercise and discipline for young men.
