That fight didn’t even reach 1m US PPV buys (while UK numbers remain hidden to this day), whereas Tyson comfortably cleared the 1m mark in his prime a number of times, even while facing the likes of McNeely and Bruce Seldon. Even his fight with Roy Jones Jr did more buys than Fury-Wilder 2, as have a couple of UFC shows this year.

Boxing has been struggling for a while now for reasons entirely of its own making. Let’s not stick our heads in the sand.

I thought you were talking specifically about this Mike/RJJ fight. Obviously Mike in the 90s was a much bigger draw than anyone around right now.

Yeah mma is more popular nowdays. 1 its the new action pact sport on the block thats more practical for real life fight situations that also has sex appeal with the women and givea you fights you want to see. I personally think that’s a disappointing number when you consider how much that fight was marketed, and the fact that Tyson’s fight is the PPV front runner is an indictment of where boxing is today.

It is showing that fighters should do more to promote themselves.

Nothing is stopping them from using social media to make themselves more accessible.

That obviously helps. Look no further than how Tank has gotten so big among others who have a social media IQ.

But it's still better, much much better, when you got a big structural ent^ty driving towards looking out for your sport like the NBA is, like the NFL is, like MLB is & yes like the UFC is.

Boxing is a flea market sport in a world full of Amazon & Walmart sports. And sometimes boxing can get a lot of mfers to the flea market like this old guy fight & guys like Canelo prove, but the thing is boxing should be having a bigger audience every week not just 2 or 3 times a year.
