When it comes to A-level fighters Canelo's tactics is to put them in disadvantage position be it waiting for them to start slipping or play games like 5 weeks training camp, rehydration clauses and so on.
How would Canelo know the fight would 100% happen? They’ve tried to negotiate this fight 2 different times and failed. He was in the gym as he is year round, as the rest of the fighters should be. It’s literally been talked for months that Canelo was hoping to fight before the year end.

I don't know if he knew, but I suspect he assigned a high degree probability that the fight would happen and started training. Being in the gym and in the camp are not the same things. I'm sure Smith is also in the gym at least a few times a week, but trying to keep yourself in shape is not the same than sharpening skills general or for a particular opponents. Anyway, all of this is a speculation and you missed the point I was making.

Billy thinks Callum goes up to 16 stone in between fights like he does. You might train for a year and never beat Canelo ,might as well take your chance.Look at what Andy Ruiz did.

Callum Smiths role in this fight is to lose. That should be easy since he just lost to a guy who is not as good as clenelo.

Already making excuses? Canelo is having the same amount of time, Canelo is naturally smaller, Smith is undefeated snd supposedly the best at that weight, so what´s wrong?? Saunders is simply a coward...

                Don't be a dunce.

Canelo tried to make the fight with Callum Smith before but Smith priced himself out. As well DAZN wouldn't approve him as an opponent even though now they do for some reason.

And Canelo had no idea when his legal situation with Golden Boy would clear up. Yet he is a professional and kept training the whole time. Callum Smith should have been doing the same just in case he got the call.

                No excuses.

they tried to make the fight with plant first, smith came as an option only after plants network couldnt work a deal, so plant was plan a, maybe callum plan b, considering that i highly doubt that canelo was preparing him self specifically for either at the same time he was dealing on court with goldenboy and dazn...
canelo had much bigger things in his head at the time unlike the rest of his possible opponents...
but to be fair to saunders or smith, saunders is right they need more time to prepare in order to compete with canelo, even if canelo had only 4 weeks those guys need months, there is levels...

                    Who's the casual?

Since going life and death with Lara Canelo has looked for opponents to show weaknesses before fighting them.

                    Golovkin > Brook and Jacobs
                    Kovalev > Ward and Alvarez
                    Smith > Ryder

                    see the pattern?
My join date has nothing to do with the level of boxing knowledge being that I’ve watched boxing since Tyson was a teenager. Boxers of yesteryear fought every other week sometimes weekly. If you can’t get ready in 5 weeks you’re a pretender
