This is my point of view as a Mexican soccer fan and amateur player.

Messi is an excellent soccer player and an immaculate model of how a professional player should behave inside and out of the field.

he is really good.

Having said that,

Maradona is also an excellent player and his image was tarnished and flawed because of that ******* problem he had.

but Maradona knew how to make a team win and he knew how to carry a team when that team had problems.

Messi to ME, does not.

Also Messi feels more a Spaniard than an Argentinian and i honestly believe im not alone in that if people asks some Argentinians

Messi has no Latin-American flavor when Maradona has a lot in him.
