Comments Thread For: Demetrius Andrade-Liam Williams Probable For February In Providence, Says Hearn

Demetrius Andrade's first fight since January 30 had been scheduled for Friday night in Hollywood, Florida. The unbeaten WBO middleweight champion's layoff was prolonged once his optional opponent, Dusty Hernandez-Harrison, contracted COVID-19 and withdrew from their scheduled 12-round fight on the Daniel Jacobs-Gabe Rosado undercard. Eddie Hearn, Andrade's promoter, now anticipates Andrade (29-0, 18 KOs) will return to the ring in February to make his mandated championship defense against England's Liam Williams.

    Yawn.

Better than Dusty Harrison, but still not a real quality opponent.

The fact that Demetrius is 32 years old and never fought a legit world champion is CRAZY. Let me put it down like this. Canelo is 2 years younger and has fought 15 champions. Charlo vs Andrade is the fight to make for 21.

What’s up with Andrade? The guy is clearly very talented but he doesn’t seem to be in any good fights? Is it that he has a tricky style and not that well known?

Yup that what I thought. It’s such a waste a talent. I’m not saying he’s the best at 160 but he could be. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like we’ll find out anytime soon.

The boy got talent. I actually met him before at an GGG fight. We will not see him in a major fight until he takes a risky fight with the deck stacked against him. Basically like him fighting at 168 or 175.
