I guess it depends on how we define quality opponent. Is it by popularity? Skill? Resume?

Some people put fighters into two categories: P4P and “bum”.

For Andrade I think the Liam Williams fight is a step up from Luke Keeler and Dusty Harrison and all he can do is be dominant like we would expect guys like Canelo to be against that level of competition

There’s much worse fights out there at the minute, if Andrade is dominant against Williams I think that’s a feather in his cap to some degree.

If Jacobs wins every round against rosado and Saunders wins every round against Murray I won’t look at them any more positively than before the fight. I refuse to call any fighter a bum, but those are two utterly pointless fights.

As you said before, "high risk and low reward". His career has sputtered with inactivity for various reasons. Fighting infrequently, awkward boxing style, limited fan base and being a dangerous opponent prevents him from developing buzz and getting those marquee matchups. The juice simply isn't worth the squeeze.

Yes Saunders pulled out of their fight and tested positive, and yes Canelo and GGG don't want that smoke, I get that, I really do.

But what about the other 6/7 times where he did not want the smoke from those other guys?

And you know the 'boring' excuse that Canelo and GGG use to duck him, he used the same exact excuse to duck Lara. I can find the video interview and send you the link if you don't believe me.

Agreed....Demetrius Andrade is really not that good of a fighter and that's why we've never seen him in a great fight....LOL...the guy fights just like he did in the amateurs...nearly no change that I see at all.....and you got dumb people in here talking about folks are "avoiding" him.....AVOIDING HIM FOR WHAT?? The boy got talent. I actually met him before at an GGG fight. We will not see him in a major fight until he takes a risky fight with the deck stacked against him. Basically like him fighting at 168 or 175.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, noone is particularly interested in andrade. Saunders is pretty much in the same category, so I can't see a fight between them generating much buzz either!

My point isn't that he's the victim or that he doesn't have blame for his current relevancy and buzz. He's done plenty to contribute to the situation. Quite the opposite.

I try not to get into the debates of who specifically "ducking" who because there are usually alot of factors that go into which fights are pursued and ultimately made. A contract can be sent to a fighter but what's in the language?

I think he's talented but with his awkward style, he needs to bring more to the table. He's had plenty of opportunities to finish an opponent but has been content to take the decision. He doesn't have a large fanbase outside of New England and he doesn't get great TV ratings.

I see some similarities between him and BJS. Skilled boxers, ugly styles who don't have big fights on their long resume. Both have a lot of blame in their situations but I still view them as high risk and low reward. The difference is that BJS can at least play the villain in a matchup.

Agreed. They should be high-level tune-ups for Saunders and Jacobs before fighting each other to be honest. Now if I’m Rosado and Murray then I would be highly motivated to ruin those plans but I think those two have gone as far as they can go.
