I've been following boxing since the 70's as well. I remember all those Puerto Rican greats, Sammy Serrano, Alfredo Escalera, Wilfredo Benitez, Wilfredo Gomez, Hector Camacho, and to a lesser extent Angel Espada, Juan Laporte, and Carlos Deleon. Those were the glory day's of boxing for the island of Puerto Rico. I really enjoyed watching Alfredo "El Salsero" Escalera, dancing into the ring to salsa, and a Boa constrictor around his neck to boot. He had heart, rhythm, power, good chin, a positive spirit, just an overall charismatic fighter. Wilfredo "Bazooka" Gomez is probably the best fighter to ever come out of Puerto Rico. I'm waiting for the next great decade of Puerto Rican fighters to emerge the 2020's might have started it already with Berlanga, Zayas, Matias, Verdejo, Adorno, Acosta, Cuevas, Feliciano, Reyes, Serrano, Pedraza, Zorrila, Garcia, Rivera. and Torres. By 2023 we'll definitely know if we have a group of fighters to rival our old glory days in boxing. It 'll be interesting to watch, and see which one's are able to achieve legendary status. I believe that some of them will win championships, and retain said championships for an extended period of time.

Golovkin probably did deserve the win,he did hes best scoring with that pole like jab of hes ,a jab that is nothing like Spences pawing jab.No Porter type short guy is catching a Floyd type guy the way Errol was caught, consistently. You and I both know Canelo lost that first fight - no matter what Adelaide Byrd said about it.
But we need to understand WHY he lost.
Canelo is not the defensive wizard when someone walks him down, regardless of size. And again, skill wise, I see Spence tagging the hell out of him all night long.
Or did you forget that Khan was damn near landing at will before he got hit?
Now Khan got starched ,and he wasn't shutting Canelo out either, but he did well with that in and out style that Errol doesn't have, and the blazing speed that Errol doesn't have either.Sure Errol will land some on Canelo, but the difference is he'll take plenty back, plenty more than he did even from Porter or Brook.Again, this style wont be anything like Floyd's defensively brilliant ,pot shot counter style, and nothing in Spences history suggests he can box anything like that.Comment

Nothing in Spence's history suggested he could stop Chris Algieri, either. And before you say it, back before that fight MULTIPLE people on NSB predicted Algieri would outbox him despite me clearly telling them what was going to happen.
wow how are you proud to be a sheep? I love Floyd ..>I've seen all his fights multiple times(something I bet you can't say) and I would beat myself with a hammer before I ever repeated the catch phrase of Floyd's boxing team..
Spence has fought nobodies...Want to see his level? go watch him struggle in sparring with Ashley Theophane..Algeri got this.
He would then go on to stop Kell Brook, cementing his place at the top.
NOBODY has an easy night against Shawn Porter (which is why Crawford doesn't want it - confirmed by Arum). Despite that, Spence fought Porter straight up and got the W.
He's getting better, skill wise. The ONLY Joker is what the accident has done to him.
If he stops Danny Swift, I'm really going to need NSB to acknowledge this man as the top dog.Comment

One of two things will happen in 2021. Bookmark this post.
1. Crawford loses a suspect decision and drops the title.
2. Crawford joins PBC, which will result in him fighting (and losing to) Shawn Porter.
If either happen, Keef will be right there to pick up the title, then you'll see Spence/Keef to unify.
Manny is very likely to retire next year, which vacates that title and sets up an eliminator between Ugas and Ortiz. I have Ortiz winning that fight decisively.
Keef is not beating Spence, so he'll be retired in a year or two. I suspect Swift will retire after his fight.
That leaves Spence vs. Ortiz - meanwhile you'll have some dudes moving up as contenders.
If Crawford doesn't choose option 2 before option 1, he's not even in the conversation.Comment

Look, that Algeri fanboys thought he was better than Spence is neither here or there. He wasn't a betting underdog. As for Porter,Kell Brook and Thurman clearly beat him too,but Spence had a tough close fight, which isn't saying hes rubbish, but he did get hit alot. You think hes got the skills to float through a Canelo fight not getting hit the way Floyd did.Theres no evidence he can do that because he hasn't even done that against far inferior opponents to Canelo.Think about it mate, your going from Algeri ,Brook, a points win against a small lightweight, a very close punishing one with Porter,to outboxing Canelo without getting a scratch on him.He probably wont stop Garcia, like he didn't stop Porter or Mikey, but whatever he does ,he isn't Floyd skill wise ,and never will be.Nothing in Spence's history suggested he could stop Chris Algieri, either. We saw what happened.

To smaller fighters that aren't his own size? yeah, he'll wreak them.
Spence can't just go straight into that kind of fight at Middle. And not with his style where he's right in front of you. He won't hold Canelo back with anything in his armoury.Comment
