Comments Thread For: Hearn "Disgusted" Government Didn't Support Grassroots Boxing

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom says he's "disgusted" with the grassroots boxing not benefiting from the government's 300 million support package for elite sport and bailouts for rugby union and horse racing.

Totally agree with Eddie on this. The uk government ploughing money into horse racing is a disgrace.

Hearn being a staunch Tory for nothing.
      Better switch to labor, bitch!

A lot of rich people activities getting government money while poor people activities are ignored

Government don't support boxing enough anyway so not surprised, but didn't know horse racing got so much. Putting ourselves and our kids into generations of debt to help cunts who are richer than us keep their hobbies going

So the guy who lives an incredible lifestyle and is incredibly rich off the back of boxers is going to chuck a few quid the way of the grassroots clubs to keep them afloat, right?
          Right?

Oh. Maybe he should keep quiet then.

Like $50 mil? What is a few quid to you? He should not keep quiet, if anything, he and other promoters should have made a fuss about it before government made this elitist, privileged decision. Hearn is 100% right. And there are so many rich people loving horses in the UK, shouldn't they spare a few quid on their favorite entertainment? Where else would they wear those fancy hats?

Yes they should. And yes he is right.
However, he is also being a massive hypocrite as well.

Hearn criticising his fellow silver spoon kids and Eton kids - I like this.

But what do you expect from a Tory government? Both rugby and horse racing are elitist sports, so it’s shocking that’s what the Tory government cares about. How many kids from working class background play rugby?

To be fair to Edwin it could have been a working class man saying those words. ABC's do a lot for kids struggling on estates where you're looked at funny for wanting to make something of yourself. Horse racing also targets the same kids, but welcomes them into the much darker world of ********. He's right to challenge that decision.
