The only way Canelo fights Benavidez is if it's for undisputed at 168. Benavidez has to get his title back. Fight Plant and beat him then Canelo will have to fight BJS after Smith. I dont see that fight happening honestly. If they do fight it would be September of 2021 at the earliest.

Benavidez beats Canelo too IMO

If you watch Benevidez closely he has more holes in his game than Swiss cheese. People are so enamored by his power that all else gets completely overlooked. His shots are not sharp and are wide and at times lunges. His footwork is also very slow. An elite boxer such as Canelo who is an elite counter puncher with fast footwork and faster hands takes advantage of this all day. It is because of this that I firmly believe Plant would take advantage of Benevidez as well. He has faster hands and footwork than Canelo. The only thing Plant lacks is the power of Canelo.

Benevidez while good isn’t all he’s wrapped up to be. Very sloppy boxer

I’d rather prefer watching a fight between them too, but at least Smith is a step up in competition compared to Canelo’s last two fights.
