Like Ol George use to say, “dont hook with a hooker”. Smith isnt polished enough to beat Canelo. If he fought just like Klitschco. He’d win easily. Lazy jab, no straight right, aint gong to do it.

It's honestly not a bad fight I expect Canelo to win but I think he might eat some leather in this one Smith isn't as good as some made him out to be in the past but he is a big body and is a champion have to give him some credit. I remember back when Canelo fought Fielding they were complaining saying he should of fought Smith now he's fighting Smith and they are complaining saying he should've fought Bivol or Beterbiev lol it's never enough. I think he's a harder match up than Plant he punches harder that's for sure and he has better stamina.

He got exposed by Ryder who is a southpaw so that has nothing to do with Canelos style but before that the Dutch kickboxer with 13 pro fights made him look terrible Holzken I think was his name so that's why I think Canelo left hook's to the body and uppercuts are going to do some damage and probably TKO him late.

On a side note how many brothers who are boxers have been beat up by the same fighter I know Glen Donaire got knocked out by Darchinyan and Nonito came and handled him, and Wladimir was flopping around the ring against Sanders and Purrity until they stopped it and Vitali had to avenge him but has there ever been 2 brothers who were beat by the same champion

As you said though, it doesn't mean it won't be a close fight. We could get Porter (who lost imo to Ugas)-Spence or Derevy (who lost imo to Culcay)-GGG.

My guess would be it is a tough contested fight tbh. It is still at 168 and Canelo was still fighting below 160 a couple years ago. I will be interested to see if there are any clauses involved.

Basically, when you are Canelo, and you are the 'man' and top 3 pfp on anyone's list really. Then expectations will be high each fight. You will be expected to fight the best available guy on even terms, otherwise you will get a little pushback.

Honestly if it's on even terms and the scorecards are legit then I have no issue with the fight. But I won't hold my breath on that yet. And it looks a little curious after Smith looked so bad last time out.

For me personally I would prefer to see Canelo face Bivol or Beterbiev if he is really 'chasing greatness' or any of that BS. Those are the fights that I would really be excited about and really feel like he was testing himself.

Can't fault him for not taking those either though, they are at 175 and really tough fights.

And if Canelo can keep winning (ie not getting blown out in fights or KOed) then he will keep stacking Ws and keep stacking millions and millions. I'm not mad at him for that.
Canelo has had two legit fights above 160 (Not counting JCC Jr), and the two guys he wanted were two champions at 168 in Plant and Smith. I see no problem at all with this fight. It would give him a legitimate title in four weight classes.

Smith is a solid fighter that could pose some problems for Canelo? Is he great? Of course not, but that's why the fight is good and nothing more. However, to say being a top 3 P4P comes with high expectations is fine and all, but who do we hold to those standards aside from Canelo? Is Crawford fighting this type of competition? Should we expect Crawford to go up to 154 and face someone like Charlo? When Lomachenko was fighting Crolla or even Campbell, was there no expectations for him? How about for Golovkin when he was top 3 P4P?

To say you want him to face Beterbiev or Bivol is fine and all, but if he wants to campaign at 168 right now and even 160 for the right fights, then no problem. His first option was Caleb Plant another very good SMW but the fight just couldn't get done for December.

If you expect the fight to be tightly contested, which is possible, then that's great right? That's what we want as fans?

Who instead? Andrade, Charlo, ggg, BJS, Plant, Beterbiev, Bivol. You don't think that a ppv featuring Canelo could be put together in 6 weeks?
                You completely misunderstood my post.

Plant looked just fine last fight. That was who Canelo wanted to fight in December. So it's not like he is just picking guys who looked bad in their last outing.

And no, why else do you think the Plant fight didn't happen? PBC has a PPV two weeks earlier in Spence vs DSG and December 19 is a bad day for a PPV due to the college football conference championships and a couple of NFL games.

Mentioning GGG here makes no sense since he is fighting a day earlier against his mandatory.

Is there a big difference between Smith and BJS? I mean BJS is another guy Canelo was willing to fight earlier this year.

Beterbiev and Bivol? He's fighting at 168 next fight and wants to fight there for a bit.

How much money is Canelo getting paid?

How is it possible that DAZN wouldn't approve of Callum Smith before, but now they do?
