How is Manny Pacquiao still elite at age 40?

Mid 30s is when most boxers seem to get old overnight. We just saw what happened to Brook.

    Kovalev was done at 35.
Haye was so shot at 37 he lost to Bellew.
Sergio Martinez was shot at 37 and lost to Cotto.
Cotto himself was shot at 37 and lost to Sadam Ali.
    GGG seems shot at 38.
Ali and Leonard were shot after 35.
Floyd had to retire at 38 after Berto
Even a great heavyweight like Wlad couldn't be successful after 39.

Yet Pacquiao, who has taken more punishment than any of the above, is still beating guys like Thurman at the age of 40.

He's still universally recognized as an elite top 3 Welterweight today.

    How?

pac is completely shot and past his prime. it's just that a shot past prime pac is still considered elite compared to a lot of these young underachievers. prime pac would completely obliterate and sweep through these young champs. that's how good prime pac was and why floyd avoided prime pac.

Pac is old and probably around only 70% of his prime but still good enough to beat the top ww of today and the amazing part is he's the smallest ww and he needs to eat 8x a day just to meet the welterweight.

It's even more amazing when you think about how that Marquez knockout he suffered at 32 was one of the worst one punch knockouts ever.

Every Pacquiao opponent since Marquez talked about how they were going to knock him out and send him into retirement. But Pacquiao hasn't even been dropped since, much less KO'd.

Pac could only fight for 6-7 rounds against Thurman, before he faded really really hard. Dude was so tired he couldnt even get on the ropes, he tried but he couldt do it.

Its been a while since that fight. Can't see Pac fighting at a high volume for more than 5 rounds anymore. Hes not Floyd who can pot shot his way to victory with low volume fighting and great D at age 40.

Pac needs quite a high volume for his style of fighting.

Remember to turn the TV off right after Crawford finishes him. No matter who is watching it with you.

Some fighters last longer for whatever reason. Hopkins is the best example of that. Pac is far from his prime but still good enough to hang with the top guys. I do think fighters like Spence and Bud would put a serious beating on him and then people wouldn't call him elite anymore.
