Kovalev, i dont think it's that close. Thought he has better case for beating Ward the first time than golovkin has for beating Canelo.
Also, kovalev was able to come back from getting koed by Alvarez and outbox him to win back his title. I think he goes down as the greater fighter.Comment

When HBO wanted to can Ward in 2013 because he put up such garbage numbers HBO picked GGG as an opponent for Ward and Ward said no. He doesn't even dispute this claim.
Then Ward comes back in 2015 and piggybacks GGGs success by sending him a bull**** offer that would have interfered with his business at 160 as he waited for the Canelo/Cotto winner.
