Both never moved up so they're equal.

Golovkin by a mile... most people think he never lost a fight, whereas kovalev get stopped by alvarez, ward and canelo. The funny thing is kovalev was getting absolutely slammed by the same people that hate golovkin but as soon as ward got him on his resume then he got all sorts of praise out of nowhere to make ward look better. They also say kovalev was 'past prime' when he started losing yet they totally disregard that golovkin was 36/37 when he was fighting canelo and deryveyenchenko

Kovalev has somewhat better wins (Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly back when he was still unbeaten) but way worse losses. Golovkin lost a shady points decision to Canelo, Kovalev got smoked by him despite being two weight divisions above his normal weight. And he got iced by Eleirder Alvarez who he was expected to beat, and Andre Ward who was also a division above his typical weight and not a big puncher at either SMW or LHW. There's a reason why Golovkin's still sticking around at the top of most people's middleweight rankings and even in some people's P4P lists and Kovalev is yesterday's news.

that is Golovkin's biggest failure... he wrote cheques with his mouth that he was unwilling to cash with his fists

Kovalev > Hypekin... not even close

if Kovalev was a middleweight, he would not have ducked Charlo, Saunders, Andrade... he would have taken those fights

Pvssykin always took the path of least resistance, which is why he has a poor resume for a career-middleweight and supposed top fighter
          Who did GGG duck?

Golovkin is the better fighter. He's tougher, has better stamina, doesn't fold under pressure and he has a better chin. I'd pick Golovkin if they had ever fought.

Who were they supposed to fight who did they duck? Let’s not act like African American boxers cherry-pick all the time as well

For me it is GGG by a wide margin. He had 20 successful title defense in a row and 22 KO wins in a row. He has only one debatable loss on his record. He was a world champion long before kovalev was and he is a world champion now a year after Kovalev lost his title. Kovalev has been KOed 3 times.

Kovalev has the better resume and has taken ANY fights offered to him. he is a fighter who knows how to b ox. GGG is a boxer.

GGG however is the better boxer I feel on a consistent basis, however Kovalev can be a great boxer when he needs to be.

We all know that Kovalev got robbed by Ward in the first fight and the second fight was questionable, I can't hold it against him.

Yes, he did get caught by Alvarez, and totally h is fault for geting confident and getting guard down. (he was winning hte fight until then).

With Canelo, I still think he sold his belt. He was outboxing him, being very cautious (like he did not want to hurt Canelo), and then on russian social media, on a live stream, said he did what he had to to provide for his family.

Why does a boxer fighting above his best weight suddenly make him better? I don't think it does. There is nothing wrong with a boxer staying champion at his best fighting weight and beating all challengers at that weight? That is what Monzon, Hagler and Pryor did and everyone considers them all time great boxers.
