Brook in his prime was an elite level fighter, p4p material. After his first fight with Carson Jones, he went away like Djokovic, did the business in training, chalked up some decent wins and peaked with a close win over Porter.
The decision to fight GGG derailed his career. Going up two weights and having his orbital bone smashed seemed to crack his aura of invincibility, similarly to how Mayweather cracked Hatton's chin, he was never the same after.
Doing such a good job of making weight at 160 made his second mistake all the more worse: dropping straight back down to 147 to fight Spence. Coming away from that with another smashed orbital bone I think has permanently effected his confidence. He gave a good account of himself, but that sort of damage carries mental ramifications as well as the physical.
He was struggling to make 147 even before the Porter fight. He should have gone to 154, climatised to the weight and persued the belts at LMW. I can understand wanting to test yourself, in this day and age it seems really rare that someone of his ranking at the time would be so willing to pit himself against such a challenge as GGG, but it felt like naivety at the time and it feels even more so given hindsight.
I think Crawford will stop him between 7 and 9.
Brook will look half decent for 3 or 4 but will unravel pretty quick soon after.
