Eye, reflex, head, and leg movement, were masterful displays of defense, I can't say that enough. If it wasn't for replay I wouldn't have been able to enjoy as I have because it happened so quickly. I didn't know he had that kind of ability in him, until I saw the replay. Daniel Jacobs must've been in shock when Canelo slipped, ducked, and dodged the 7 punches he threw at him. I actually thought it was his best fight since his war with GGG in their second fight. His fights with Fielding, and Kovalev just weren't the types of fights talk about afterwards. I'm looking forward to seeing Canelo fight one of the other top fighters in his next fight. If he doesn't it's going to be a meaningless fight, and a waste of time.

Most elites would still think twice about fighting Kovalev. The truth is Canelo’s stocky midget build enables him to take shots that other physiques can’t. Canelo’s lucky he’s able to maintain a poker face. It’s one of his strategies just like PAC. Difference with PAC is when he gets rocked he bounces back to hit his gloves and dare the opponent. That psychology works to his advantage

Canelo is a sharp counter puncher. If he doesn't fight frequently that timing suffers a bit.

Nah. It’s the same Ward or Mayweather style. You gotta bring the fight to the defensive masters not the other way around. Varies. When you have experience like PAC or Canelo today, eyeing mistakes comes naturally and you respond with counters easily. I had to learn this in sparring myself. At close range things are a lot slower than spectator observance because overall torso movement from your opponent is just intuitive. Most of Kovalev’s opponents were bigger than Canelo, so mistakes from Kovalev who likes to lunge attacks gives Canelo the opportunity to hit back easily while Kovalev retracts. Plus Canelo got freaking long ass arms. I’ve said it before, Canelo’s upper body is like a big SMW small LHW. His legs are big but he suffered a growth deficiency in his legs (height). Most Mexicans are midgets anyways. It’s in their genetic. Marquez got small ass legs

All this means for fans is Clenelo Alvaroid is free to fight the Avni Yildirims of the world in phony corrupt sanctioned title fights under the WBC banner. The boxing powers that be have no integrity. They bow down and cater to whoever brings in the most $$$. The rules only apply to boxers without power and influence.

I thought Kovalev was a risky fight for Canelo, but it turned out to be a really boring fight to me anyway. I do agree with the shock absorbing short thick build that you pointed out. There have been other fighters with the same type of build that can take an enormous beating. He also does know how to play it off when he's been hurt by a particular punch, or combination. I remember when Jose Cotto, Miguel's brother hurt Canelo badly with a perfectly timed right hand. It jerked Canelo's head back violently, and that was one time that Canelo couldn't play it off. Try as as he might Jose couldn't put him away, because Canelo has great recuperative powers. So Canelo was able to turn the tables on Jose, and get the stoppage win.

"Golovkin, 37, is under contract to fight six times on DAZN through 2021, paying him a reported $100 million. That works out to two fights per year beginning with his DAZN debut on June 8 against Steve Rolls."

Forgive my possible ignorance on the subject as I'm not a lawyer so I'm not sure how a contract changes if at all during a pandemic. I know with the current state of sports he's only fought twice but that contract went into effect AFTER his second fight with Canelo so therefore had nothing to do with Canelo or any money he made fighting him twice previously besides the "hope" of a 3rd fight (which I don't think is going to go well at 39+ years old).

His deal and bulk of money was based on him getting a third fight with canelo, his guarantees for fights he has so far with dazn puts deal way under 100mil total that was announced
