Why has Cuba, historically, underperformed when it comes to the pro's

for being arguably the best amateur boxing country in the world, they historically have underperformed in the professional ranks. You would think they would be pumping out beasts one by one.

Compare them to say the Post-Soviet countries (Eastern Europe plus Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan etc. ) that tend to have similar amateur programs like Cuba, but they seem to have more success in the pros

You are not very knowledgeable. Cubans stay too long in the amateur, because they can't leave their country when they want to. Also they start very young and by the time they are 18/19/20 years old, they already has won an Olympic medal, panam or World tournament. So they used to kick a$$ since they are teenegers, no bullies. Do your research before posting nonsense. I had seen a lot of Cubans like Casamayor, Gonzalez, Dorticos and a bunch of other Cubans fighting real fighters.

More experience in the Amateur ranks due to restrictions in their nation I guess so when they get a chance to turn Pro or enter those ranks it's later on in their careers for a lot off them? some perform well in the Pro ranks too in the past..

Cubans do not sell in America, they are used strictly as B sides and card fillers. You will never ever see a great cuban beat an A side American. Never.

Cubans are great boxers but they don't sell and they are incapable of ever selling like an A side superstar in America. It's not personal, it's just the business we are in.

Thank you, you won. This is a great comeback. By the way you are forgetting the eastern block trains their athletes from an early age. Just like we do in America. And if you think Cubans are good from their birth, it is your opinion, not mine. What I said was that they start at very early age, some make it others don't. They should jump to the pro after their first big tournament, but most of the time they can't. Something that is simple and natural for other athletes around the world.Becomes an struggle for Cubans athletes. This is very simple to understand
