Actually I've heard that between fights Evander always goes down to about 200-210 and has to bulk up before training to reach 215-220. Maybe he decided that at this stage in his career, he needs as much stamina as he can get and choose to forsake the bulking up/weight training phase of his training camp.
Four-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield weighed in at the CRUISERWEIGHT limit for his return to the ring against Jeremy Bates Friday night in Dallas. The "Real Deal" tipped the scales at a svelte 200 pounds Thursday. Bates pushed the American Airlines Center scale to 225 ½ pounds.
Whatever Holy weighs, he'll win this fight. This is not Larry Donald we're talking about. I just hope Holy somehow, through some means, realizes that he's done at the top level, has a few more small fights on TV, and hangs them up forever. I would hate to see the greatest heavyweight since Larry Holmes, and a living legend, get seriously hurt.
