You obviously never lived in Southern California before. The house I grew up in was a nice house but nothing like that. It was 5 bed 3 bath with a pool. We sold it for 250k back in 1992, was built in 1977. It’s now worth 750k.Comment

Good for him. Seems like a not too high priced purchase. Hope he is smart enough with his money.Comment

lol read it in context next time. "Not bad, I mean you can do alot better for that price but you can do alot worse"
...you can do alot worse for that price. But he did good.
We dont even know what area hes in? so arguing about "dollar's worth" is pointless.Comment

If I'm making $100k/year remotely, why wouldn't I want to live in a place where you can buy a house for $75k and have at least 2 acres of land over a place where houses are $500k+ with .3 acres of land?
I had a company out in DC trying to offer $75k. For a place where the median home price is well over $700k. MEDIAN. As in, most middle of the range.
All about priorities.
I know this much: if you're a celebrity, black or not, California will take care of you because they'll happily take your tax money (until you pіss them off by not filing, ala Wesley Snipes).
But if you're not a celeb, SoCal is NOT the place you want to be if you want to be free from slavery.
The smartest move a person can make is, live in a place where your income is enough - and prices are fair enough - that you can buy a house outright in a year. Then buy multiple of them and rent them out. Then buy the house and land you really want, wherever, and collect money.Last edited by Combat Talk Radio; 10-31-2020, 10:54 AM.Comment
