One champion per weight class would be nice, but I don't see any easy way to get there in practice. At least in the short term.

Something that is a bigger priority to clean up is multiple champs at one weight per organisation. That stinks the worst. This franchise champ and interim champ and super champ crap. Each organisation should be made to say -- this is our single champion, our guy at the top. And they should be compelled to rank champions of other organisations. This would encourage unifications.

What sport do you see people complaining that there's only one champion in?

If you're American, then you know that for a million years, we had the college football championship decided by different committees and sometimes the two committees didn't pick the same champion and there was always huge controversy until we started the FBS, that used a computer algorhythm to determine which teams would compete and determine a true champion.

It's not perfect, but the past 20 years we've had 1 FBS champion and it's a hell of a lot better than it used to be.

But since nobody would want to lose their shares of pie, we'll continue with this nonsense of having 4 boxers calling themselves world champions.
Me & this cat in another thread were actually chopping it up about this and he had a good idea that I kind of expounded upon.

If the sanctioning bodies cut the world into quarters with each if the 4 major ones WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO tackling one part of the world.

      WBA - North America
WBC - South America & Carribbean
      WBO - Europe & Asia
IBF - Africa, Australia, & Oceania

Each has a champion and the champions fight each other in a 4 man tournament once a year to determine the lineal/Ring champion

Then, that would allow them to have "interim" champions to to determine an alternative in case one of the world champions gets injured or is incapable to defend their title or compete in the tournament.

UFC champions are a hell of a lot more respected than boxing champions

Khabib whatever his name is is regarded higher than anybody in boxing because everybody knows theirs like 100,000 people claiming to be champions in boxing.

Yeah, there may be other MMA leagues, but most of us non fans of MMA assume that if they were any good, they'd be in the UFC
