You are right, now get a sanctioning body to give up the money they earn from having all these extra belts. Also get them not to rank corruptly to support whatever regional agenda or promotional tie ins they may have.

I absolutely hate it. There should only be (4) belts (IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO) and then those (4) champions fight each other until you have (1) man left standing as the undisputed champion.

The double edge sword of boxing. In "MMA" you have different companies with fighters who only fight within that company. That would be the equivalent of Top Rank fighters only fighting other TR fighters or WBC ranked fighters only fighter other WBC ranked fighters.

The benefit of MMA is that you can pick which company to support the most which right now is typically UFC. In boxing you have multiple organizations IE companies, such as WBC, IBF, WBO etc which all have their own rules and rankings. Then you have promoters who horde fighters and only allow their fighters to fight who they want and rarely are willing to have their fighter face another promoters fighter.

Unless there is a definitive company like the UFC that can horde all the attraction we will continue to have these types of issues in boxing. This is why I never put any stock into who is champion or who has what belt. The fact that you can get fined simply for not displaying the belt at a conference etc is a joke.
