In boxing you have multiple organizations IE companies, such as WBC, IBF, WBO etc which all have their own rules and rankings. Then you have promoters who horde fighters and only allow their fighters to fight who they want and rarely are willing to have their fighter face another promoters fighter.

Unless there is a definitive company like the UFC that can horde all the attraction we will continue to have these types of issues in boxing. This is why I never put any stock into who is champion or who has what belt. The fact that you can get fined simply for not displaying the belt at a conference etc is a joke.
The problem is, all these promoters and sanctioning bodies view each other as the competition, when the truth is the competition is other sports and other forms of entertainment.

Its as if the electronics department is competing with sporting goods not realizing they work for the same store.

Really?🤔 Didn't Mayweather and PBC recently have a bunch of fighters fight for WBA regular belts? Interm belts? Doesn't Tank Hold the WBA regular belt that he won against Gamboa?

Those sanctioning bodies sometimes take less than three percent from boxers’ purses when multiple titles are at stake in the same championship match. It is possible, however, for fighters to pay a total of 12 percent from their purses in a full title unification bout, when four titles are on the line."

That's just ridiculous! The WBA is the worst! That WBC "Franchise" belt was totally unnecessary! Did nothing to help the sport, and just added more controversy!

The WBC is adding another weight class so here comes more belts.

Idk how any one power broker makes a one belt boxing world, but I'm rooting for it happening.

Exactly. I am all for competition if it results in better product. What boxing is providing right now is hardly a better product. Since the advent of so many organizations/promoters coupled with prize fighting, boxing in general is going downhill in terms of quality. Sure there are die hard fans that no matter what will always watch it in the hopes of getting a glimpse of the glory years but as far as the casual fan they are losing that market fast to other sports that do a better job at hyping up their product.

I love that analogy. I've been saying the same thing for years although not as cleverly. Respect.

Boxing united would be a huge player in world sports. It's a huge player on it's biggest nights now. Imagine if everyone was working together & could make big nights monthly, every couple weeks or fook it weekly.

Floyd is right. It's a freaking joke to have so many "champions" running around, just so that the sanctioning bodies can get more fees.

The sad thing is I'm seeing some posters around here actually supporting this. They like that more belts means more fights are for a championship...and that more fighters get to claim they are great.

They completely miss how this devalues the sport.

forced merger of two of each together somehow

the two champs per weight class must unify at set times, no excuses

Dana White has it right, but the belts are a money making machine. It's idea to have one champ per weight class but that's leaving to much money on the table.
