Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez: I'll Take Haney Fight Just To Shut Him Up, Destroy His Career

LAS VEGAS Teofimo Lopez is confident he has earned undisputed status in the lightweight division by beating Vasiliy Lomachenko convincingly Saturday night. Lopez mockingly refers to Devin Haney as an "email champion" because Haney won the WBC's interim championship and was elevated to world champion without beating anyone other than Zaur Abdullaev for a vacant title. If Lopez opts to remain at the lightweight limit, though, he'd gladly face Haney next to settle their championship dispute in the ring.

I agree , i think he will break down Haney because of the power and Haney will not enjoy a size adavantage like he does in every fight hes had. I think Teo is mentally tougher as well.

Bob says the winner of Ramirez vs. Taylor has to fight the WBO mandatory, so if the weight cut is not too bad, I would love to see Lopez vs. Haney or Tank @ 135! If not, Pedraza or Zepeda would be good match-ups, and easier to make!

Devin Haney is much bigger than Lomachenko. He's younger, fights from a distance, moves and every bit as fast as Lopez.

The first five rounds that Lomachanko gave up would most likely go in Devin's favor. Not because Devin is a better fighter than Loma but because he is bigger, rangy and presents the absolute worst style for a counter puncher like Lopez.

Yea he will Teo is 5'6 1/2 and Devon 5'8 with almost 3 inch reach advantage basically a Floyd Mayweather clone. Pretty sure he'd outclass Lopez over 12 in a Mayweather Cotto type of fight..

Lopez needs you to come to him and if Devin stays on the outside while sticking and moving long range he'll touch Lopez all night in a boring chess match.

Unfortunately, for the mentioned reasons I don't believe Arum will risk losing all 4 belts to a rival network. Arum will never allow that fight to happen.

Lopez is a counter puncher, he never pressured Loma and he certainly isn't going to pressure Devin.

Styles make fights and Devin is the last style with size that Lopez should ever get into a ring with.

I always thought Loma was a 50/50 fight because of his size disadvantage but Devin, I would put money on to beat Lopez.

A situation similar to Smoken Joe beating Ali then getting blown out by Foreman only to see Ali handily out class Big George.
