Lopez really impressed me on 2nd viewing, and he had a very effective training camp. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and did it.

The jab was used effectively, not necessarily to score, but he flicked it out there to disrupt Loma's timing and rhythm all fight, every time Loma was getting read to do something the jab stopped him from starting. He also landed the right hook to the body off from the jab, it was perfect. He went to the body all fight, including the 12th when he put a serious beating on Loma.

His footwork was also on point, when Loma moved his lead foot to the outside of Lopez's in order to throw that left hook, Lopez saw it and would move his lead foot slightly into Loma's and throw him off balance. Did this over and over again to stop the main Loma move of the side hop, it was effective and he used it to stop Loma's main move and then to turn with him when he got it off. Was very savvy and very veteran for a 23 year old.

Sure, a lot of trainers would talk about this stuff, but executing it all like that is another matter. Those little nuances are what makes boxing so fun to watch for me. Disrupting the timing with the jab, going to the body all fight, using footwork in sneaky ways like that against a master of footwork, all that stuff is the sweet science at its best to me. Lopez's ;eve; of concentration was off the charts and he stuck with his game plan all fight. Just a beautiful fight to watch. This is the stuff that boxing purists loved watching about Mayweather and Sugar Ray Leonard, just masters of the little things like this.

Arum and ESPN will never risk losing all 4 belts to a rival network, never.

Before the fight Sulaiman seemed to infer that if Lopez won he would inherit some form of franchise type immunity.

The fix to avoid Devin was made three weeks ago. I thought the statement was out of place, especially because I figured that Loma would win and move down to 130. In hind sight, Arum and Mauricio Sulaiman arranged to have all bases covered.

I always thought Loma was a 50/50 fight because of his size disadvantage but Devin, I would put money on to beat Lopez.

A situation similar to Smoken Joe beating Ali then getting blown out by Foreman only to see Ali handily out class Big George.
Exactly my thoughts, Haney won't have as much trouble with Teo's size or speed like Loma did plus he's already familiar with him.. All he'd have to do is keep Teo on the end of his punches then walk him down late. Teo didn't do to well on the back foot once he got tired. he'd have his moments but I don't see him catching Haney clean enough to hurt him and he's def not going to outbox him at 5'6 with significantly less reach because of the style. But I'd love to see it. My money will be on Haney for sure.

It was a good plan but without the size, strength and the ******* use of his elbows to push Lomachanko off the fight would have been razor close. I'm not saying that it was a bad strategy, what I am saying that the size difference was the key that made the tactics work.

That's another point...Devin is not intimidated by Lopez, he will be touching Lopez from round 1. The only way Lopez wins is by KO and that's far more difficult with Devin than it would be with Loma.

Naa....Haney is more elusive than loma

Yup one of Lopez main flaws however, probably do to his short stocky build, is when he get's tired. Reminds me of Canelo. Once Loma realized, wait a minute this dude can't fight going backwards and that he could counter over his jab he had figured him out but it was to little too late.

It was a great win for Lopez but it also clearly exposed a few of his flaws that guy's like Haney could take advantage of....
